If I have this correct we lost to a 19-5 team at their place when they played really well. The same team is now 5-1 in their last 6 games against top 5 teams at Assembly Hall.

Some of you really need to relax as there is probably a chance we lose another game or two down the road. It doesn't mean we aren't a great team but sometimes other teams have better nights.

I'm glad I'm not stuck in a foxhole with some of you.

The way IU was shooting the 3 early on, it would have been hard for any team to win...I loved how we came back. Was a fun game to watch and am not discouraged.

It felt like in the first half Iowa was down by 25. To get it to 5 er 7 before half was impressive as was fighting back to take the lead. Indiana played better, made more shots from three and the free throw line and got help off of the bench. Some people acting like this is the end of the season. I saw on twitter that Iowa is 22-38 from the line in the losses to Maryland and Indiana. Not going to get it done in close road games.

Interesting stat on ranked teams playing at Assembly Hall.

I was hoping for a win, but it is tough to win on the road. I'm glad they didn't get blown out. They settled down and made it a game. If they got more bench production and rebounds/free throws it would have been better.

You're absolutely right. There's no need for people to overreact but it is frustrating that the boys didn't bring tgrur A game. If they do, they win by 10-15. I hate that stat by the way re: ranked teams at IU. Totally different teams, both IU and the visitors.

We all know why we lost by 7 ... assuming one watched the game ...I watched it live & just got done watching it on replay.....nothing changes. ... great comeback (never gave up)...didn't do enough to pull it out..but at least we lost by 7 so it doesn't count toward the close games win-loss record since 2011. ;)

Some posters have this mindset that college basketball is a science of perfection & can't get around their head it isn't. Two good teams go at it ..one comes out on top.
Some posters are drama geeks anytime that we are the other team...that loses.
Some posters are trolls.
Some posters seem to get more excited when we lose then when we win.
Some posters seem to enjoy calling out chosen Iowa players .. when said player(s) didn't perform to the posters expectations.
Some posters will go away upon the next win.

Always disappointed when we lose ... but not in the team.
Minny is next.

Over 5 years - not the same team

Im not sure anyone is in panic mode....No? It was a disappointing loss, but nobody is waving the white flag. Still have a great opportunity in front of them. Life on the road is tough

To me Iowa is the third place team in the B1G. They are tied with Indiana and Maryland but have losses to each of them

They will likely be the third seed in the B1G tourney. I am betting on a 3 seed in the big dance but that could go up or down one seed pretty easily.

This season seems like one of those "almost" seasons.

Now that we've reached the point where we don't lose that often, 12-6 last year, 10-2 so far this year, I consider a tough loss like last night a "Dead Check" game.

How else would we know if some of our Lemon Sucking posters were dead or alive if it wasn't for the occasional loss to lure them out of their bunker to complain? So, take a census. Take a pulse. We play Minnesota and Penn State next and get a needed week off after that. This is likely the last chance to count the Negative Nellies for awhile.

Dead Check.

I kind of chalked this one up as a loss in the middle of a very long grueling season, one in which it is inevitable that you may have some off nights. I have no doubt we will peak at the right time come tourney time. We lost last night because of two basic failures: defensive rebounding and the killer: missed free throws on the road. You need to hit those, especially on the road. We hit our FT we walk out last night with a W.
We will be fine. I'm still fully confident of a deep run in March

Not at all a bad loss, nor unexpected.
4-2 over the next 6 is what I see. 14-4 and 2nd in the B1G is pretty darn good.

Last night was a reference check.
Iowa is a good team this year. Far better than expected. They're in the mix of the top 15, none of whom are significantly superior as we've all seen by the number of losses by the top 10 and frequent changes in order.

This team is exactly the same team I thought it was before the game last night. They are an outstanding group of experienced players that have no big weaknesses. They are unselfish and they play hard all the time. They are well coached and play with poise. I love this team.

But, I was not under the illusion that they were unbeatable.

Let's hope they start another win streak.

Likely 3rd seed in BTT? ..you do realize there are 6 games left in conference. "almost" season? how can a season be almost when its not even close to being over. You do realize that while we have lost to both Mary & Indy at their place...at least we get Indy at home.

The B1G regular season outcome is mostly determined by an un-balanced schedule...it isn't Iowa's fault they don't get a crack at Mary at home...nor is it Indy had one of the weakest B1G schedule.

It truly amazes me the doom & gloomers..

In reality you are wrong. If they finished all tied, they would still be Co- champs. They would be the three seed if it ended today but they would still be co-champs. Good thing it doesn't end today and there is still a ton to play for.
Yeah, not as fun, but don't let one loss diminish what has been a great season to date.

good post Furence...and lets not forget...Indiana was in a must win situation....why? because they got MichSt in East Lansing sunday...come Monday its very likely there will only be two teams at the top and it wont be the Hoosiers.

Is it funny to think that if Iowa wins on Sunday, they could move UP in the polls? There were some top 10 teams to stumble this week, to lesser competition. Iowa could very well stay the same or move up even with a loss.

KU or OU will lose on Saturday
Xavier got Hammered by CU already this week
Sparty also lost
Virgina could move up
Oregon got beat by 20 @ Cal

Lots of losses this week, I don't see the hawks falling very much if at all.

Iowa's a very good team. In that environment, with the way they were shooting and the way Iowa was playing in the first half, it would have been a 30 point game against even a decent team. Dont undersell Indiana, their schedule hasnt been the strongest, but theyre a good team.

Most of you missed the "to me" they are the third place team in the B1G. I am not one of the doom and gloomers. 3rd place is pretty good.
As for the almost part, they could have or still might be B1G champs But I will be very surprised if they are alone at the top at the end of the season.

And almost a Crean proof team with a senior point guard and Max Bielfeldt who as much as I don't like the guy he comes from a school where he was taught something.

My concern as well and seems to be the Iowa way:(

Iowa will come out pissed and piss pound the rodents into oblivion.

I always just try to take in the season as a whole and not live and die by each game. Indiana played well, Give them credit. The Hawks are a very good basketball team, A team that with the right draw and some luck could go a very long way in the tourney IMO. They could also lose in the 2nd round and it's not because they sucked. Just so many teams that can beat about anyone on a given night, Especially if they are hot from distance.
I think the bench performance last night was disappointing, In the big picture it may be a great teaching tool for Fran and the staff as the season progresses.

We are still in pretty good shape. We just have to win our 3 home games,(Mn., Wisc., IU) and lose no more than 1 of our road contests (PSU, OSU or Michigan) to finish at 15-3. We will most likely be favored in all of the remaining games. 16-2 is still possible but 15-3 I think is where we end up. If any of the 3 leaders run the table, they deserve the title.

Exactly, we will be favored in each of the remaining games. I actually think IA runs the table for the outright B1G title.

Interesting he's playing so much better at IU than he was at Michigan where he was "taught something." Also interesting Crean's record against Beilein. But go on .... Oh and I think Iowa is a better team than Maryland or IU. They have been the most consistently good team. Losing on the road to Maryland and Indiana isn't bad. Maryland has had several close games ( including home ot win over Northwestern). Think they will lose an unexpected one. And IU still has multiple tough games.

Nah, it just looks that way when he is playing amongst guys that haven't been taught since high school.

Omg dude. There are 6 more important games that will determine all those seeding scenarios. We almost have 20 wins right now. That's it. The rest is in our teams hands. I swear most that post have never played a competitive sport in their life. This is the only way to make sense of this type of hogwash. We lost a road game to a 20 win team playIng for a share of BIG lead. The world is ending. Geez

This team is exactly the same team I thought it was before the game last night. They are an outstanding group of experienced players that have no big weaknesses.

One big weakness. FT shooting. It will be our downfall in both the B1G tourney and NCAA tourney.

It will more likely be our inability to perform in tight games late. Clearly that is an issue that hasn't gone away.

That said. I love this team. Only 1 team is "happy" at the end of the year, and the odds that team will be Iowa are about .0001%. But this season has been a hell of a ride. We have a LEGITIMATE chance to WIN a National Title in Basketball. We absolutely do. Who'd have ever thunk it?

We need to be good and we need to be lucky at the same time. Here's to hoping both occur from here on out.........................

I know you are trying to drive home a point, but the odds are certainly higher than that. Since I believe it is a given we make the NCAA tourney at this point, at the very least, we have a 1 in 64 chance ( 1.56%) of being the champ. Throw out some of the 16 seeds, etc and those odds get even better.

Hawks just need to register what they should have done better and move on to the next game. They have done this very well for the last two years. Iowa is still in a better position than the other contenders, and we just need to take care of business Sunday.

I haven't noticed a lot of people overreacting that much. I was disappointed in the Indiana loss too, but I'm not criticizing the team or the coaches. Iowa has been great to watch all season and a loss to Indiana at Assembly Hall isn't that big a deal. Some people are concerned about rankings and seedings, which are important, but all this Iowa team needs to do is win their games. Then rankings and seeds don't matter a bit. If they don't run the table the rest of the way, I still think this has been one of the most enjoyable seasons watching the Hawks I can remember in a long, long time.
