From @CBBAnalytics:

Here are the only players with:

• 25 or more PTS/40
• A Usage Rate > 25.0
• A True Shooting Percentage > 55.0%

(among P5 & KenPom top 75 teams)

What is usage rate?

From a google search:

Usage rate estimates the percentage of a team's possessions a player uses while on the floor.

Usage rate equals 100 times the sum of field goals attempted, a third of assists, turnovers and 0.44 times free throws attempted, all divided by the possessions.

For his sake, hopefully he hits the portal and gets a staff that will coach him the right way

Looking at averages right at the start of conference play is a bit disingenuous. Iowa has played some serious cupcakes in non-conf and with the fast pace style of play, that has inflated Owen's numbers so far. He is not a bad player, but he's still not big enough and his free throw shooting sucks. That said, we lost because of defense and Payton's endless disappearing act.

Owen hasn't been coached properly to value rebounding and positional defense. I do agree his summer illness caused him to be out of shape.

Owen, Josh Dix are both high quallity players---probably $400K on NIL open market. Traore and Thewel are quality players.

Payton should be sitting on bench---I respect what he's done in the past/his effort, but sports is about performance. Payton's issues
are all on Fran---permanent green light/infinite patience with a made guy.

I recall a point in the game when Wisconsin was on cusp of blowing us out whene I thought to myself---we absolutely need a basket here. This is a big possession. So Payton gets the ball in low post and decides a Kobe Bryant turnaround Fadeaway is the shot we need to take.
Payton is not Kobe.

Freeman and Payton need to play a LOT better than they have most of the season, if Iowa is going to win at least half of their B1G games. We actually have a damn good backcourt, if they can step up and Traore can find his role.

Luckily, I was unable to watch that game yesterday, but I was very disappointed that Owen only collected three rebounds. I would happily do with five less points and five more boards.
