Pat Likely to Play This Year

Connor was good. Even if he never develops into a scoring guard; a tall, well thought out player is going to be very beneficial to a team that struggles at defense and features the post.

He obviously needs to develop his shot, but that’s doable. I think Connor takes a big step forward next year. If Jobo can get healthy, the team has the potential to out perform the ‘18-‘19 squad.
I agree 100%.

I think Connor had a fairly average season for a Freshman. He made some mistakes and he did some good things. I expect Connor to be much better in the coming season. If there is no growth, that would be cause for concern.
you think he will be much better? While every other guard in the big ten is working on their game, connor is playing baseball. Every other guard is getting better. connor is playing baseball. he may be a little better through experience only. but i dont see how he will be improved when hes spending his time away from basketball.

You don’t think Connor is working on his basketball game?

Patrick might benefit down the road from a redshirt, but he is needed this year. He's a top 100 player w/a skill set that we really really need. 6-9 (I think) can handle the ball, good jumper, looks to be besides Joe W our most versatile player. That allows us to play Joe at the 2 some more, and I think the more those 2 are on the court together the better. Our guard rotation is very very sketchy at the moment. I think Patrick plays way more than some of you think he will.

I would bet that Connor is working on basketball more than the rest of the team right now. He is away from his friends working out with Siena.

Not nearly as much as others.
How about you give the kid a little time instead of jumping to asinine assumptions 1 year in to college. Good lord what a douchey take

He clearly has a drive to be successful.. I wouldn't bet against him.

Connor has already finished 2 years of college.

That’s very true. But I do hope Iowa does t have to rely on Patrick this year to be a big minute player. I do think he is going to be a very versatile and valuable player in his career (a more skilled Baer-type) but I do think best cases ensuring is if he can be that 10-15 minute a game player backing up Wieskamp (and playing with Wieskamp a little bit if he moves to the SG). I think he can be an energy player and cause havoc in the press and getting garbage buckets and out in transition next year. But hopefully Iowa is good enough where they don’t have to rely on him to be a big-time player next year.
Things change. Patrick had the luxury of redshirting with Cook, Moss, and Bohannon playing on the 2019-20 team. If Bohannon doesn't play we'll be missing 4 of our top 6 scorers. IMO Fran has done a pretty good job of turning freshmen into scorers when necessary. If Patrick is one of our best players we'll probably need more from him than 10-15 minutes, and we'll need scoring.

Yep that is true but I’m not really worried about scoring. That never seems to be much of an issue and with Wieskamp and Garza, you have to guys that can get 20 often and should be two of the best offensive players in the Big Ten.

I am among those who feel that it will be hard for Connor to reach his potential in either sport, as long as he plays both.
