Patrick Kennedy

I witnessed a bar talk on this very word....not being a word, which it was not at the time. Years later, I was told but never picked up a new dictionary that because so many people used it, it is now a word.

Can we keep this going? PK is a good guy and deserves at least 10 pages.
Off topic, are you coming to State College for the dual on the 31st? It would be fun to grab a drink with you and shoot the shit.

FFS it takes 5 seconds to do a search in the student directory. That didn't happen and that's just lazy. So yes, he's just throwing shit to throw shit and you literally dropped in and said, "In his defense..."

There is no defense. None.
So what do you expect would happen?

If he was truly off the roster he likely isn't enrolled either. This isn't rocket surgery.
you didn't read my first post, did you, Aristotle?

whatever the case, i'm the bad guy again.

Yikes.

"irregardless" has been a word since 1795, and was added to the dictionary in 1934. Wife (no pics) just got pissed at me for using it the other day. Wait till i tell her she's wrong about something!
Living dangerously, huh? I hope your couch is comfy, or your Doghouse is big and heated.

I'll try to help get this page count up, but I believe Brody belongs back at the top. Thank you, MSU for starting it back up.

Especially when he knows Iowa's staff and speaks to them routinely.
Mineo talks to Iowa staff routinely? Now that would be first rate content.
Where did Kennedy allude to leaving in the interview? I heard nothing like that smalls...
he didnt address 'leaving' exactly but he gave an awesome interview on what the mindset is for winning the spot by both him and Nelson (and the program in general). which was roundly accepted as 'he aint leaving'

I believe he meant that Kennedy was alluding to FANS speculating he might leave, not himself saying he might leave. I vaguely recall a discussion like that in some interview. And no, that's not me defending Mineo.
This. PK actually said in the interview that he loves Iowa and isn't going anywhere. He said he could get paid to go start somewhere else, but he would rather stay at Iowa and earn a spot. It really was a great interview and I am willing to bet him, Nelson, Gabe, and Angelo all have the same mindset. The fans make a much bigger deal about guys challenging each other for weights than is really there. They all feel they can win the spot because if they didn't feel that way it would be a loser mindset, and none of these studs got to where they are with a loser mindset.

Of course these guys have that mindset. It's the same mindset that Will Henckel has when he commits to Penn State knowing that Mesenbrink, Sealey, Ryder, and Barr are already there. However, no matter how confident these guys are, the mindset can change after they actually don't win the spot. Not that this has anything to do with PK. The website omission is clearly a non-story, he's not going anywhere, and he should win the spot vs Nelson anyway (or "irregardless" I guess, LOL).

Your board, but I'd think that part of your job is to increase traffic as opposed to decrease traffic. Mineo increases traffic.

We were told to get a handle on politics and forum trolls. In the past, Mineo has put out info on Iowa that is true, half true and totally wrong; in almost every case, it's framed to make Iowa look bad. When he gets it wrong, he deletes the tweet and blocks anybody who calls him out. So why would we want somebody on here that historically deals in bad faith plus is an avowed hater? Clicks? Compared to football or basketball, neither this forum or Mineo is big enough to matter.

If the cesspool removed the ban on Mineo you guys could be actually discussing this with him. Wouldn't that be more fun than just bitching about him?

There is something oddly comforting about the cesspool cesspooling... feels like the pre-covid days kinda brings me back...

Mineo could have spent 1 phone call to see if there was any smoke to the PK thing (assuming someone would have picked up), and you are 100% correct it would have been interesting if it wasn't a nothing burger. I don't see why you deserve any scorn for noting that. Maybe its just Mineo-adjacent hate

Will Henckel and some of these other high profile recruits aren't exactly being overly confident or cocky when you think about the NIL deal. They are solid recruits who are grabbing the Free or Reduced education and all the preferential treatment afforded PSU athletes as well the NIL PAYCHECK and the best part of the deal is that they DON'T even have to ever win a starting spot once they are guaranteed the money. Now most of the guys will let their egos drive them to want to be a starter but in reality once they sign its basically a 4 or 5 year experience and they are in control. If the coaches put too much pressure on them they can even enter the transfer portal and look for an even bigger paycheck elsewhere based on their past record or the team who needs them at a particular weight class. The other plus is that they are almost guaranteed to be on a National Championship team and as far as the team is concerned they get to keep a top tier recruit away from any other programs and the NIL isn't the actual team's money anyways so they just try to stack the team with all the best talent they can get.

This is a misconception. It's just not true and I know that for a fact. Underclassmen are getting walking around money. High school recruits are getting nothing until they are in school.
PSU is behind the curve in the NIL space. It is a focus of the program to increase this funding.

I just looked at my 30 year old Merriam Webster dictionary and it's not there. Not wanting to start an argument over it, just attempting to get this thread to 30 pages.

As an aside, I've never used irregardless (spell check here showing it's wrong) and ordered another beer while I heard this bar talk maybe 20 years ago.

Which dictionary are you looking at?

No, too long to get there.

I'll be to our hosting tOSU or OSU then Nats. I'm looking forward to Philly and seeing some historic sites. Never been there.

You'll have to stop by the suite in Philly and have a drink. It would be fun to chew the fat. Is "chew the fat" a correct phrase? ;)

Sounds good. I'm pretty sure "chew the fat" is a phrase as I've heard it many times. I never looked up the derivation though.

For something completely the same, the Eddie Murphy, Bronson Pinchot scene in Bev Hills Cop where Eddie needs clarification of "pertaining to" and Bronson says regarding etc always reminds me of "Regarding/Regardless". Wish I knew how to cut and paste it.

1. You have an actual paper dictionary?! That's impressive. Can't lie when I say I wish I still had my copy of the Encyclopedia Britannica.

2. Same. Was always told the word was not a word. Mom wasn't a lady to mince words, so a quick smack across the mouth was warranted for "mis-speaking"

3. see this link:

Who would have this phone call been too and who possibly would have gave credible truth to it? Seems to me it's lock and key

My guess is the equipment manager doesn’t give two shits who Mineo is and wouldn’t waste a second of time on that cum stain let alone someone from the coaching staff giving him the time of day.

Iowa has a whole department for sports information (called strategic communication) Possibly even the same people that did the cheeky PK post on X.

I'm guessing Sam Basler might have been able to say 'hmm, i saw him practicing last night'. Or even check with Brands, though I can totally imagine Brands saying they had no comment.

Got it. Thanks. Finally someone offering up info.

Be Careful with all of your KNOWN FACTS as some may read the last part where you said PSU is behind the NIL curve because 83% of this board calls that bullshit.

Once again, are there known upcoming tryouts?
It's hard to keep up living under a NC Iowa rock.
I have to depend on this veritable fountain of wisdom forum for information.
it looks from the outside like 174 and 184 are most definitely calling for tryouts.
