Peach Bowl is a Nightmare Scenario

Well, just gunna say.............. after the run "we" have had this year, (as far as I am concerned) there is no way this season could end nightmarish. (only a 50 pt blow out in ANY bowl game would qualify as nightmarish, and I do not see that happening) jmho

Totally agree. That would have the same feel as the 10-1 1991 team that got pushed down to the Holiday Bowl vs BYU. Huge letdown, that ultimately affected the fire that the team played with (game ended in a tie).

So, let's just win on Saturday!!

I could do the Fiesta Bowl. I would go to any of these except the Peach Bowl. No interest in seeing a game in a dome in Atlanta.

I'm with you on this.

Even though this isn't the Peach Bowl of old, it still has the perception of being a "lesser" bowl. So I agree....Hawks just need to win Saturday!

When you have had a season like this there are no negatives! Enjoy the ride- no matter the destination! Life is too short and football seasons like this too difficult to come by!

Iowa will go to either the Rose or the Fiesta if they lose Saturday.

Only way the Rose Bowl takes OSU over our game's loser is if it's a blowout and the loser is exposed. I have little doubt that the Rose committee thinks OSU travels better. I think MSU will also show a sea of green in Pasadena. And hey, we beat OSU in Columbus. We'd be 11-2 vs their 11-1 with that loss to us. How can they go to the Rose over us?

It's been awhile for Iowa....right? I'd think they'd also show up. 12-1 Iowa trumps 11-1 OSU.

I don't think this game will be a blowout either way. I'll puke if OSU gets the Rose.

I completely understand everyone's thought process here. While the Peach is now considered a top-tier bowl game, and will actually host the semi-finals next year, I can't imagine anyone looking forward to a Peach Bowl matchup with Houston to end this fabulous season. Rose vs. Stanford/USC or Fiesta vs. ND would be a great consolation prize if Iowa isn't able to pull it off Saturday, but Peach vs. Group-of-5? Ouch! Peach vs. Florida St would be the only tolerable matchup.

The Rose Bowl committee has actually said they are taking the highest ranked Big 10 team. Only way we make it if we lose is if the committee ranks Iowa over OSU. The I see it is the committe has already set everything up for OSU to go to the Rose if Iowa loses. That's why they are ranked 6th.

Then you'd better hope Iowa wins on Saturday.

The only way OSU doesn't make the Rose at this point is if Clemson and/or Bama lose, and OSU sneaks into the playoffs. They are guaranteed the Rose otherwise.
TCU and/or Baylor thought they were guaranteed to be in the playoffs last year and we all saw how that worked out for them. We do not know how the CFP rankings will come out so there are no guarantees at this time.

San Diego is much better than Atlanta.
Of the New Year's Six, the Peach is the worst.
At least with New Orleans, you have Bourbon Street.

Going 5-7 is a nightmare. Going to a NY6 bowl, even if it's the Peach, is awesome!

But we won't be going to the Peach, we're going to the Playoffs!

You can tell which Iowa fans are still living in 1995. The peach bowl is without a doubt equal to the rose and fiesta bowls.

Theoretically, yes. But perceptions among the vast majority of fans is that the Peach is a second tier bowl. And a 12-1 Iowa vs Houston would do nothing to change that perception.

You don't hear fans of any Big 10 teams saying "Man, I hope we can make the Peach Bowl this season."

If you have even half a brain, it's pretty obvious that a 1 loss Iowa or 2 loss MSU will fall below OSU.

You have to be pretty stupid not to see that.
How awesome. Da Coach gets banned with his Sweet Willie B handle and then replies again with his new, soon to be banned handle of HawkFan 22. It's like getting 2 dumb ass's for the price of 1.

This would be the worst possible outcome Saturday. This one scares me. It would be a big come down, fan travel would be poor and it would be a terrible ending to a great season.
For a 'BCS' level bowl, it couldn't be a worse time. Half the country will be at work and the other half won't care because the 'real' games will be on later in the night. I'm not worried as Iowa will be playing in primetime Dec 31.

LOL. You can paint a turd red and call it a rose, but it's still a turd. Same applies to the Peach Bowl.

And God awful Atlanta....yuck.

I will quit watching Iowa football if we end up in the Peach Bowl vs the AAC champ. And I am serious.

Only go to Rose if they stay ranked ahead of OSU. Rose has stated quite clearly they will take the highest ranked Big 10 team.

They've backed off that quite a bit. They have also said that they will take the team that will bring the most interest as long as they are fairly close together in ranking. Now, if OSU and Iowa fit in that category they may very well still go with OSU, however, they may take Iowa. Iowa hasn't been there since 1991. They won't be able to print enough tickets if Iowa goes. That might be enough.

The only reason this would be a nightmare is the fact that I will be at work. WTF they can't schedule the biggest games at night or on the weekend? Many of us have careers where you don't just get to take time off whenever you want. There is absolutely no way I can get out of working that day.

Normally people love a Cinderella story....they are always the darlings of the NCAA BB tournament. But when it comes to football, there is no room for them.....blue blood schools only need apply.

I just don't get it.

Whoever made the decision to play the NY6 games on Dec 31 and Jan 1 instead of Jan 1 and Jan 2 (Sat) should never be allowed to make an important decision again as long as they live.

I've been to 3 Rose Bowls, and 3 Rose Bowl parades. I also went to the 1982 Peach Bowl. You are clueless!!
