My family and I went to the game on Saturday. At halftime my special needs son and I were coming back from the restroom and walked behind the Hawkeye bench. My son Trey saw Pemsl standing on the court and reached out to shake his hand. Even though Pemsl was getting ready for the second half he realized my son was special needs and shook his hand. It made my son’s day when Pemsl said thanks buddy!

I know Pemsl has done some stupid things off the court but his good hearted gesture made him our favorite Hawk this year. Even my wife said no more bad-mouthing Pemsl this year.

My mom taught him in both 3rd grade and at Wahlert. Has always had glowing things to say about him as a leader and good person. Very respectful to her and everyone. He made some mistakes. He has/will pay for that. Doesn't take away from the fact he is a good guy.

I have been pretty critical of Pemsl's abilities on the court. A lot of the deficiencies are the result of injuries. I have never questioned Cordell's heart or willingness to give everything he has. It has been really fun to see him start to get some of his mojo back the past few weeks. Without that happening, it would have been almost impossible to play through CJ's absence and win.

You're a complete sh*tbag if you know a young child (especially a special-needs child) is seeking your attention and you do not acknowledge.

Pemsl did what any normal person would do. BUT HEY, this proves he's not a sh*tbag, which is nice!

I’ve been around my son for 23 years and I can tell you that it’s not a given for someone to automatically shake my sons hand BUT HEY if you know it all !

That is a great story, thank you for sharing. I bet we fans would be amazed at the things these college players do that we don’t read about. The selflessness and kindness acts like visiting the hospital or Ronald McDonald House, etc that dont always make it to print. You can never read too many good things like this.

I’ll just add that a player standing on the court during the game (dead ball or not) is not a complete shtbag if they don’t go over to the stands to shake hands with anyone. (As someone else said) For Pemsl to do that, is extraordinary IMO. I 100% agree with you there.

I'll still eat a spoonful of Pemsl shit if JB leaves...

Damn you. It took me about four games to get that image out of my head the first time you said. I actually forgot about it.
