Pete Hegseth hearing

A vote for Gay Pete by the D's as the Secretary of Transportation was far worse. The guy had no real prior experience, other than being a mayor of a small city. And quite frankly, he failed at his job.

Pete Hegseth is articulate, has an Ivy league education (Harvard and Princeton), and served for 20 years in the military.
As usual, your facts and interpretation are wrong.

Translation here seems to be that what Hegseth is accused of is shocking and unique right?

Teddy killed a woman, ran for President AND voted on legislation that affected all of us Americans. He got there not because he was qualified (he was booted out of Harvard for cheating) but on his family name.

The SecDef is not one of 100 people who vote on things affecting 330 million other people.
And just FTR I remain skeptical of the nomination.
Teddy was mentioned because he is just one example of a reminder that the indignation on display might be justified but the reason for it isn’t unique.
Again he was never nominated for a cabinet position. Can anyone on the right stay on topic without trying to replay the past?

Teddy isn't relevant to this discussion. Not remotely.

And another who unsurprisingly making an ignorant comparison.

Yes I have. It was CYA
So you're saying, never in your life have you said something and them later regretted it? Or is it that you have Blue glasses on and only looking at it in that way? She said something to her son 7 years ago, in anger, and later regretted it. There are reasons for him to not have this job, but this isn't one of them.

Ted's been dead for 15 years. And he wasn't a member of anybody's cabinet. Let's just call it what it really is. Rs are desperate to find some Democratic equivalent of Hegs, and the best they could conjure up is a guy whose been dead three presidents ago. Lame.
No they're not. Stop projecting. They're saying the man had a drinking problem and by all accounts so far, has beat'n the addiction. The comparison is to the fact that many drunks (Teddy one of them) have been in power before. They are attacking Hegs for the very things they've allowed their colleges to do.

RFK would have been a much better choice to use. He was 34 when named attorney general and had literally zero experience before becoming a member of his brother's cabinet.

After winning the 1960 presidential election, president-elect John F. Kennedy appointed his younger brother as U.S. attorney general.[100] The president-elect's first choice for the slot had been Governor Abraham Ribicoff, but the Connecticut politician declined the offer.[101] Joseph P. Kennedy Sr. pushed for Robert Kennedy to get the position, in part on the grounds that the president would need someone in his cabinet with whom he had an absolute trust.[102] Both brothers harbored doubts about the proposed appointment, but first John decided it was a good idea and then Robert was persuaded to accept it.[103] The choice was controversial, with publications including The New York Times and The New Republic calling him inexperienced and unqualified.[104] He had no experience in any state or federal court,[105] causing the president to joke, "I can't see that it's wrong to give him a little legal experience before he goes out to practice law."[106]

By all accounts he hasn't beaten alcoholism.

Both excuses suck. RFK has been dead even longer.

Here's the thing about Pete and DoT Secretary. The SecTrans job is a job that is given to someone perceived by his/her party to have long term upside potential, because let's face it - the job mostly involves doling out money and making friends with local government types all over the country.

In PB's case, he attended elite educational institutions, served, worked for a very high end global consultancy, and was elected to and managed a local government as a gay guy in a town that is essentially run by a catholic institution. And he did so relatively quietly. So his qual's to be a cabinet secretary were just fine, whether i like his politics/policies or not. Mind you, they were completely inadequate for him to run for president, but now he's got cabinet secretary on his resume, and probably a fair number of friends.

A final note - whether his fault or not, his tenure at Transportation wasn't exactly the quiet stuff of his predecessors, so if he does try to move up the chain, I'm sure we'll hear more of it.

🙄 Gosh.
Tell me which of these is true…
1. You honestly believe this and don’t understand the point
2. You honestly think others are so dense they’ll be convinced by your selling this

Sounds like FoxNews came up with the Ted Kennedy excuse and the resident Rs are rolling with it.
No. If they’ve mentioned him at all I wouldn’t know about it.
OTOH it does sound like you and your friends use this standard issue response whether it’s factual or not.

Yesterday was a bad day for the lefties, Hegseth made them look like the idiotic harpies that they are and won the day. The House passed a bill keeping trannies out of women's sports, and the Academy Awards will be cancelled. Whatever, will they do if they can't watch their celebs pontificate about lefty politics.
LMFAO, The world learned Hegseth is a fallen down drunk that couldn't answer any questions yesterday.

You should probably watch it again with your eyes open this time. You are kind of out of step with even the propaganda media. I know dolts like you don't pay attention, but the only people making the drinking charges are anonymous sources on NBC who attempted to smear him. His coworkers from three different jobs said this was bullshit. Oh, and the unhinged Dem harpy senators repeated them, making themselves look like fools. But it is your lie, tell it how you want.

Joni is a weakling. She found herself on an island with the key vote to deny this position to someone with no experience, sexual assault allegations, and who said that women shouldn't serve.

If a Dem nominated this clown Joni would have been an immediate no.

But because she can't stand up to Trump, he sails through and she gives this scumbag her seal of approval so that he gets to be in charge of the military she served under.

Rs are completely owned.
Didn't Joni vote for that clown Austin?

I know there's a lot of pissing and moaning over a lot of the noms... but really the only ones I really think shouldn't go through were Gaetz (gone already), Hegseth (unqualified), Kennedy (unqualified and crazy) and maybe Gabbard (unqualified and potentially compromised) if her ties to adversaries on background come back poorly. The others are all fine enough to me.
Nothing but the best… after all, look at his last cabinet, look at his SC nominees and look at his “optics” as POTUS…. Trump is a goddamned jokecas POTUS, he’s a lyin’ sumbitch about everything and why would anyone think anything is gonna change when he takes over next week? The American voter is a walking, talking definition of a mentally ill person…. Try the same thing over and over expecting a different outcome. Trump’s a loser. Hopefully the “checks and balances” of the Constitution ( Trump’s enemy) will keep him inside the rails. He is an unstable person.
Fly your flags at half staff Monday out of respect for Jimmy Carter and our Constitution.
