Is there a better player in any sport that screwed himself out of the Hall of Fame?
FIFY

Rose’s issues are 100% self-inflicted. He violated baseball’s one golden rule, then denied it and lied about it for decades until he thought it would benefit him to come clean. I don’t care whether Rose is ever inducted or not, but as long as they’re not inducting anyone with a lifetime ban from the game, then he’s out.

They are cheaters.
So was Gaylord Perry. I’d be fine excluding them if we explicitly knew who was and who wasn’t juicing. I don’t know who, but just playing the numbers, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if we’ve already inducted a juicer.

Didn’t realize the HOF was the moral authority. Pete is the hit king and should be recognized in the hall as such
He is. He is recognized in the HOF as the hit king - he just doesn’t have a bust. There are plenty of accomplishments acknowledged in the HOF from guys who didn’t receive individual induction.

I think Pete Rose spent the past decade signing autographs in Las Vegas making $1 million a year.

Csb/fun fact/name drop but my cousin Dave Collins played with him for a year on the Reds and said he offered him all sorts of drugs to play through the pain. Never got a response on if he accepted or not but I'm ssuming yes because why not

We had a basketball player and a baseball player. So #3 should be a football player.

Greg Frey.

In retrospect, it makes perfect sense: three human specimens built perfectly for their craft:

In the mid 70’s Pete Rose was a Gold Glove outfielder. I think it was 1975 the Reds started out about .500 for the first 20 or so games. Sparky Anderson came to Rose and told him we need to get George Foster in the lineup. He asked Rose if he would move to third base. Rose said ok and came out very early the next day and take grounder after grounder all day long. The Reds then went 64 and 16 the next 70 games.
