PJ Duke commits to PSU

Where is Penn State getting all of this money ? They are a not a well endowed university and their NIL in football is nothing impressive. I refuse to believe that all of their success is just on having more money. Wrestlers want to wrestle for the best and Iowa is the best and the standard in Wreslting. What is up with this ? Would Cael even be someone we would want if T and T were not here ? No way. PSU cheats and their wrestlers don’t graduate and they are all on steroids and outer PED’s. That’s why they are winning and all of these championships should be *. The nation knows this and PSU is not a reputable school or athletic program. I can’t stand them and feel strongly that the whole school and ALL of the Universities athletic programs should all have been banned indefinitely over the Joe Paterno sexual abuse scandal. Is there any chance that the NCAA or Congress (Kevin MacArthur, etc) would reopen potential litigation against the school and program and shut them down ? Are there any lawyers on this site to help with this ?
Seek help, there are a few screws that need to be tightened

In what world is $1.75 mil and $750k a level playing field? If they can spend a million more than us each year that is a huge difference!
Exactly. HWC has improved, but still less than half of NLWC. And in prior years it was worse, allowing a decade long trend. One article a few years back showed NLWC having more $$$ than the next 10 teams combined.

Level playing field? BS.

This is PSU's projected starting lineup:

125 Howard
133 Nagao
141 Bartlett
149 SVN
157 Haines
165 Mesenbrink
174 Starocci
184 Truax
197 Brooks
HWT Kerk

This is what is left for the B team (assuming guys who will actually redshirt/greyshirt this year would wrestle for a B side...):

125 Kurt McHenry/ Cael Nasdeo
133 Braeden Davis
141 David Evans
149 Tyler Kasak
157 Terrell Barraclough
165 Alex Facundo
174 Josh Barr
184 Donovan Ball
197 Lucas Cochran
HWT AJ Frischionne

Where does that B team fit in? Obviously, there are no potential champs in the B team, but there are a couple potential AAs in Facundo, Barr, and Kasak and several others who could qualify for NCAAs (McHenry, Davis, Barraclough, etc.). Where does that put them? 15th maybe?

Are there any schools besides PSU who can claim to have 3 top 20 P4P recruits on the "B" squad? Facundo #3, Barr #6, Kasek #17

Everyone with half a brain knows it's more than just money, But as you stated 3 guys in the top 20 p4p that will not even be in their starting lineup! Nobody is remotely close and the question still remains to be answered, how do they keep all of them? Having a PSU diploma is def not worth riding the pine for the better part of your college career for such talented kids.

5 star quarterbacks commit to play for Lincoln Riley because they know he produces NFL results. Not starting immediately may not be important if getting to the NFL (eventually) is their dream. Wrestlers want to be coached by Cael and Company for the same reason. His staff produces champions. Agree or not, that is what the kids say when they commit.

LOL, you need to re-read what you wrote! IF, for a "star" QB, the goal is to be an NFL QB. Signing at a school that produces them certainly makes sense, BUT at some point. The people in the NFL are going to want to see results! Sitting on the bench, will not get you them!!!!

Wrestling, does not have an NFL to shoot for. Winning championships, getting to the next level would seem to be the goal of ever top tier kid I have ever talked to or heard about. I would even make a bet on your comment that a TOP kid, goes to F*** st, to be coached by the great Kraleure???

It is, and has been, very obviously, fat $$$$ mans slush fund and a compliance dept wiling to look the other way. The $660K in "camp expenses" that was well documented, tells you this! Very nice if a kid can make a years tuition over the summer working at wrestling camps!

Now the matter of having top kids ride the pine, was another of the great Failures achievements! Grey shirts, deferred enrollment etc...I guess he saw what Ivy schools did and just added it in at F*** state. Just a round number, but say 5 years of F*** st cost 250K. Normal for many wrestlers.

Now obviously 6-7 years adds 50-100K, NOT chump change!!! BUT if someone else is paying, well then it becomes a non-issue. Plus if you are not losing eligibility, well you could always transfer, which has happened several times now and will many more times just watch!

You can also look at the , "recruiting over" 2 top kids at the hardest weights to recruit Heavy and 197 with Beard and Nevilus. A REMARKABLE feat that has NEVER been done before in the HISTORY of the sport! Was nice to see the KerKIN and ButterDean put on the magic Fraleure weight so quickly too!

Wait, are you talking about the great Faleure? I mean, I guess if you concentrate on his 4 State Championships, 4 National Championships, 3 Hodge Trophies, 4 National OW's, his being the only undefeated wrestler in NCAA history, his FS Olympic Gold medal, his 235-26-2 coaching record, his 98 All Americans and 36 Individual NCAA champions that he coached in 17 years, and his 10 coaching national team titles in the last 13 years they were held, you might consider him slightly successful. However, the great minds can see through all of that B.S. It has been nothing but, luck, cheating and money from the FAT man that accomplished this, so, he is the Great Faleure.

I mean even if you overlook the obvious luck, cheating and $$$, his accomplishments don't event take much talent. Truly talented people can take people's name's and come up with hilarious nicknames to put them down. It's been my contention that particular skill truly shows how great a human being is. I mean seriously, when you can recruit top end guys, like Frank MORONaro, David FAILore, Ed TRUTHISHECHEATS, Matt CLOWN, Nico MegaLOONEY, Pain CHEATerford, Mark HallOFSHAME, Bo PENNY and others, of course you are going to win.
Poor MS Murphy! She was trying to teach you about adverbs …. and you turned out this piece of unintelligible crap. You should never have been promoted to 3rd grade.

Of course a PSU fan would choose the outdated, tiny kong(notice I didn't even capitalize it)

Here is what a "real man" would use!

@MSU158 should get this done. And maybe change your handle.

It's a little disingenuous because Barr and Kasak are taking redshirts this year. I made the assumption that the guys on shirts could wrestle for the B team. Facundo is eligible for an Olympic RS, but who knows if he'll take that. He doesn't really have a snowball's chance in hell of actually making the Olympic team. It's also possible Mesenbrink takes an ORS and Facundo starts at 165 again. Mesenbrink seems more likely to actually train for the Olympic trials (although probably more likely for 28).

Regardless, they are going to have a huge roadblock in the middle weights in a year or two with Kasak, Haines, Mesenbrink, Facundo, Duke, Healey, Ryder, and E. Gibson vying for 3 or 4 spots.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out? One thing is certain, the great fraleure has set himself up. With this many top guys, 1/2 could sh*t the bed, and you are still sitting pretty!

How many will transfer, waste their eligibility, not pan out, use the slush $$$$ to stay in school for 8 years, all remains to be seen?

Ohio State had 3 top 20 recruits on the B squad last year

Bouzakis and Feldman, redshirting (like kasak and barr this year)

Jordan Decatur, lost his spot in the lineup (like Facundo would have if he's on the B squad)

Slight difference is Ohio state will have their redshirts in the lineup this year and Decatur has been there and just has not leveled up. There will be several non RS top 20's sitting at psu at any given year.

Eight years? That's Iowa.

Put the crack pipe down

Yeah, there's more than a little irony in that statement from a fan of a team that had Grampa Kemerer and career family man Marinelli both out there as 25 year old 7th year seniors. LOL.
For the sake of accuracy, Marinelli was 6, not 7. Mind you, that ALL came down to the ridiculousness Covid caused wrestling. Do you not think those 2 would have traded A LOT to have been able to wrestle that 2020 NCAA Tournament. BOTH guys were probably wrestling their absolute best that season and BOTH seemed to be the most healthy coming out of B1G's than they ever have.

Let's not act like Iowa has had some crazy track record for keeping their guys on the roster for ever using crazy ways to use multiple redshirts. Kemerer was simply a case of 2020 and a major injury screwing him up...

1 is the starter until we hear differently, and eligible for an Oly redshirt, the other 2 on freshman redshirt. These kids aren't even from the same class.

3 big recruits in one class is hardly unprecidented. Take a look at Ohio state's most recent best recruiting class in a decade. Their B squad last year looked pretty strong. meh.

Yeah, that's all true, and it's a shame 2020 was cancelled. Regardless, the irony of IB's post still remains.

Irony, satire, sarcasm are often the main points of his posts. I mean the fact that he spells his crazy nicknames differently in nearly every post is a good indicator to not take everything he says too serious, let alone personal...

I did not want to start a new thread so I figured this one is as good as any to be off topic. Looks like Austin Gomez will be wrestling for Michigan this year. This is quite the haul from the transfer portal for Michigan, 5 All-Americans(DeAugistino, Cannon, Gomez, Griffith, and Davison. They will have 7 AA's in there line up, 3X NQ Ragusin, blue chip recruit Rylan Rogers and a huge hole at 197.
125 DeAugistino
133 Cannon
141 Ragusin
149 Gomez
157 Lewan
165 Amine
174 Griffith
184 Rogers
197 Bullock
285 Davison
If healthy they will contend for 2nd place.

I guess if he is serious about freestyle, Michigan is as good of a place as any to go. They had 3 world medalist in the club this year. The real question is - "how many times is he going to retire"? He is pulling a Michael Jordan on us all.

It prolly depends on his health, eh?

I don't know about contending for second. Yep, a lot of names we've seen before but how many points are each of them really going to score in their weight classes. Gomez if healthy and at the top of his game could be huge and after that you have Griffith and Amine who might/probably make it to the semis, but I don't see anyone else on Saturday night. I think whoever is going to take second has to get some Saturday night points or have 4 or 5 high AAs,..and looking at Michigan's names I just don't see 4 or 5 high AAs or any Saturday night points. Just my thoughts.

It would not shock me if Shane Griffith placed 2nd. I also wouldn’t be shocked if Amine, Gomez, Lewan, DeAugistino, and Davison all placed in the top 5. Rylan Rogers was the #13 ranked recruit in his class. Cannon and Ragusin are both fringe AA types. This team has the potential to score a lot of points. If I were a betting man, I’d put them in the 3-5 place as a team. They most certainly will be competing for a trophy
