PMac to Butler.

To be fair, Fran did start Patrick in front of the Murray twins. It’s still shocking.

But that wasn’t the statement and question asked.

And to be more fair, Patrick never once started over Keegan in either one’s entire time at Iowa. Patrick did start in 2021-22 over Kris, but you could also argue that neither played the same position which was another part of the question. Kris played 4 and really the only option to back up Rebraca, so he played a lot at the five too. Ogundele (SO) and Mulvey (FR) were the only other reserve options if you played Kris, Keegan, and Rebraca together. While Kris didn’t start, he played starter’s minutes by conference time of his soph year.

I wonder what position Patrick is playing this year?

Part of the problem here is that he had the size and quickness of a 4 but wanted to be a 2.

Patrick really never had the size/speed for any position, IMO. Certainly not the four with his weight/strength. I think he was able to put on some weight last season, but 210lbs would be very generous. The three was probably the lesser of all evils.

Not sure what he’s playing at Butler, I didn’t get to see their game. Looking at his stat line after one game, it looks very familiar to his time at Iowa (with maybe an extra off reb).

If I’m a Butler fan, then it’s not a good thing if Patrick is starting for my team this year. Unless a change of scenery has changed his game drastically.

CMAC started over Keegan at PF during Keegan's Freshman year. The defense/rebounding was so much better with Keegan in the lineup, but that would have put CMAC on the bench.

PMAC played 1st sub minutes behind JoeW at the 3, Kris got 3.2 minutes/game and only garbage minutes, so in reality Kris was playing behind both Pmac and CMAC. Kris was quite capable of playing the 3 to backup Weezy or backing up Keegan at the PF.

Kris averaged 17.9 minutes his Sophmore year and that isn't starter minutes. No, Kris wasn't averaging starter minutes by end of the season. PMAC started ahead of Kris' entire sophomore season and also was ahead of Kris during Kris Freshman year when Kris didn't play much at all. Do most reasonable, non-biased adults think PMAC was ever the better player than Kris during their time at Iowa? Certainly Fran thought so, but most unbiased people would probably go with the guy that ended up in the NBA. If you look at the stats, Kris was better than PMAC in every important category like efg%, 3pt%, rebounding. The only thing PMAC did better was not commiting fouls--but that was because PMAC was so soft he avoided contact and didn't play defense.

Kris was capable of playing the 3 his Sophomore year he didn't because PMAC was not required to do the hard work/hard nosed tsks of rebounding and defending. PMAC got a free pass because his dad was coach and he got special treatment. WE saw a heck of a lot of CMAC and PMAC playing together during their time at Iowa. Very little of Kris and Keegan playing together because that would have interfered with Fran's boys playing time.

You don't agree with me and that is fine. You dislike me because I have different opinions than you do.

BTW we just got through firing Brian Ferentz at OC which was obvious Nepotism by Kirk Ferentz. I don't think it is a stretch to describe
Fran's favortism towards his son's playing time as also Nepotism.

Wasted your time typing all of that. I stopped reading at CMAC, as this has nothing to do with anyone but Patrick. Try to follow along.

“He (PATRICK) kept better all-round players off the court, and probably indirectly contributed to some transferring out.”

“Who transferred out and then contributed at a high level? Someone who played his (PATRICK) position(s).“

“Murray’s” 😂 😂 😂

Try and do better.

I stopped reading at Cmac because that is literally everything that is wrong with Iowa basketball. Not being able to recruit guards, because you play your son at point guard, who couldn’t shoot or defend. 🤷‍♂️

Weird watching PM in a Butler uni. He's playing the same game tho, head of the press and loafing around the outside on offense with the occasional line drive off the dribble play. God Bless him, he needed to leave IC

They transferred out to the NBA? They turned down millions from the NBA because of Patrick so that they could return to Iowa and its glorious NIL package? I missed all of that. Thanks, Mikey.
Way to miss the point, you're welcome iahawks10. I see you have all the answers.

It is very clear that Fran played his sons over the Murray twins during their years at Iowa. Not sure that is really up for debate. Anyone to claim that Fran didn't give preferential treatment to his sons is just not true.

Patrick had a strong game for Butler last night. You can't pin this loss on him. He really didn't get much help from his teammates, none of whom could hit a three pointer to save their lives. They went 7-25 with Patrick getting 6 of them. Frankly, I was hoping that once he was gone, this board would let up on him, but I was wrong. The young man dealt with so much, he deserves a break.

Way to miss the question.

Question: who transferred due to Patrick playing?

You: Murray’s 😂 😂

I don’t have all the answers. I’m just don’t look for every opportunity to shit on the coach, players, and program.

What and miss out a reason to bitch about something McCaffery related.
Really sad isn't it.

Can you just imagine PMac locking down the Big East leading scorers on defense and throwing up contested one handed runners while Butler battles for the basement of the Big East?

He's also been quite blessed. He will be ok.

A lot of small people showing their true character. I hope he has a fantastic year.

PMac had a good game. Had a chance to take a three at the end for the win but for some reason passed it off with no time on the clock which expired before a shot could be taken. He was the hottest from 3 all night so not sure why he didn’t take it. At worst miss it but might of gotten fouled to win it with three free throws.

Just flexed after a foul for an and one. Good play by PMac but please don’t flex after the foul. Gotta hit the weight room to do that. LoL.

I watched some of the game tonight and he did the same thing - just stood around the 3-point line and watched the game. A couple times his own teammates pushed him out of the way when they had the ball because just stood there.

Plays the same corner position on offense waiting for the kick out pass on O and hangs on the perimeter on defense. Rarely moves toward the lane on defense to help defend or rebound. I don’t get it with a 6’ 9” guy not mixing it up down low at least 50/50.

To be fair, it can often make sense to have a good shooter hang around the perimeter to get a pass and shoot a quick 3. But he needs to be crashing the boards when his teammates put up shots in order to truly be a teammate that helps his team win more ballgames than they lose.

That’s fair

Hard to do that hanging around the line.
