PMac to Butler.

If I’m a Butler fan, then it’s not a good thing if Patrick is starting for my team this year. Unless a change of scenery has changed his game drastically.
You’ll see a few good shooting games from him. Very little else. Didn’t want to rebound or play D at IOWA.

Good luck. I hope the new scenery changed his on floor attitude and hustle. 🤞🏻

But that wasn’t the statement and question asked.

And to be more fair, Patrick never once started over Keegan in either one’s entire time at Iowa. Patrick did start in 2021-22 over Kris, but you could also argue that neither played the same position which was another part of the question. Kris played 4 and really the only option to back up Rebraca, so he played a lot at the five too. Ogundele (SO) and Mulvey (FR) were the only other reserve options if you played Kris, Keegan, and Rebraca together. While Kris didn’t start, he played starter’s minutes by conference time of his soph year.
Be careful to not use too much accuracy here. Lots of revisionist historians out there.

This can’t be serious.
I’m not saying he is good enough for either. I’m pointing out that a player can make decent money overseas, often more than a G league salary. It’s more of a comment on the comparison of overseas professional pay vs g league pay.

Not a comment on the worthiness of Patrick.

I was just saying you can’t be serious about a two-way contract.

If lil Bronny can get a contract..... but yeah.

It's also possible that Patrick is flourishing outside of IC and away from the added pressure that comes with being the coaches son.
It's also possible that he's a better fit with his current group.

Fran has tended to have too many guys with similar strengths and weaknesses on the same roster.

Having one tall, slow footed shooting/cherry picking specialist on team of otherwise good defenders is different than having 3 or 4 of them on the court together.

His cancer really had an impact on him. And then he never really found his place here. It was a good move for him and for Iowa.

It's what he could have done at IOWA if given the uncontested shots he was making last night. Not the dribbling across the lane to his left throwing up off balanced falling away from the basket junk he tried all too often.

Obviously, he's comfortable with the same role he had at IOWA but I still can't watch his bouncing around outside the 3 point line, still showing little or no interest on possible weak side rebounds of missed shots from the other 4 players that are actually running their O.

Good to see he's comfortable at Butler and seeing some success but let's see how this plays out once the competition of the Big East conference games start.

Watched him recently and yes, he still does the perimeter shuffle. He's the same player, in a different uniform.

Patrick's Per-40 minutes numbers are similar to his Iowa years. Scoring and rebouding, that is. His assists, steals and block rates are career lows. Somehow he is fouling even LESS, with 1.0 fouls per 40. LOLOLOL

About the only notable difference in his game this year is that he has hit 50% of his 3s, while hitting only 37% from two. I'm going to guess his effective FG % is going to decline from its current .613 to something closer to his Iowa career mark of .485. His overall value per minute (WS/40) will end up about the same.
