I don’t do it intentionally—there may be something tied to a purchase I make but I’m not going to alter my purchases purposely to see money go to swarm.
Get off my lawn but I’m not going to give college kids money to play ball at my school of choice. If I go to a game, and they get a portion of the ticket cost, great. But I don’t see me ever doing it. Don’t begrudge those who do, but I’d rather my money go elsewhere for entertainment.

No, I don't like the impact NIL and the transfer portal have had on college athletics, and there are much better causes for me to contribute to.

I don't begrudge anyone who does give to these collectives, though. Do what you want with your money.

The tavern hawks won’t support anything involving Iowa athletics. Currently with the NIL or in the past. But they can use the word “we” while talking about Iowa athletics. While wearing their Iowa sweatshirt from 1991.

You make it seem like people are required to support Pay For Play.

This just in: we are not.
Then don’t piss and moan about Iowa athletics. All of you tavern hawks are the same you use Iowa athletics as a social gathering. You put on a unlicensed Iowa shirt, drink cheap beer, complain about your shitty life and family and then blame it all on Payton Sandfort or Connor Colby.

No. It’s something for extremely wealthy people.

To pay a kid to become a millionaire so he can play a sport for the team you like is a rich man’s endeavor.

It was suppose to be the kids doing commercials or jerseys with their name on it.
My opinion, you don't have to be super wealthy to donate $20/month. Almost all of us waste way more than that monthly. I'll also add before someone says that it won't help that they might be right, but 5,000 donating $20/mo would make an impact.

If Iowa had $50 million to give to players do you think they'd win a national championship in the next 2 years?

If not, then yes it is a f***ing waste (I'm saying that in general). They don't need the money to begin with. Friends? :D

Votes will remain private in this poll but feel free to comment. There are many avenues to contribute so I'll try to have options that cover as wide of a spectrum as possible. Pick as many that apply.
I suppose the percentage of answers is about what it has been. I have said it before but I bought football season tickets from 1973-2018 or '19 and donated where needed, bought 10 years of bball season tickets, and went to a lot of wrestling matches. I donate elsewhere now.

I am not a big fan of how NIL has morphed from possibly paying players a decent amount per year to it being an all out wild west show with gunslingers, tampering, and just no rules. There needs to be a rule that you have to sit out a year or lose a year on your 2nd transfer just to make it look like sports is in addition to getting an education.

$20 buys 80 meals at through the Food Bank of Iowa, just saying. We have always donated to charity but used to spend a bunch on hawk athletics and donations. Now it is all to charities

Please explain how paying players through collectives has a single thing to do with Name Image and Likeness? We'll wait while you make up some BS comment. The fact that schools have totally basterdized what was approved by the courts in too EXACTLY what used to be called "bag-o-cash" does not make it any less seemly. And to have the ONLY parties involved, (the fans) paying the freight for this total nonsense while the entities making all the money off this enterprise hoard it, and to watch "the fans" be shamed for seeing through this nonsense is absolutely ridiculous. To each their own, but feel free to throw your hard earned cash at high school kids who MAY stay for a year or two before jumping for the next payday. As to the poll, I buy merch, and have some swarm beer, and buy the B1G network every year. Thats the extent of my contribution to this circus.......

If you don't contribute in some way to the NIL efforts - Keep your comments about Iowa Athletics to yourself.

You have zero, I mean zero right to bitch.
Your the poster child for "a fool and his money are soon parted" You just keep being you though. I'm sure you got a thank you card from Freeman for your contribution as he 's heading for the next paycheck at another school. As if he could give a damn about what you or anyone else thinks...
