Losing in the round of 32, do you consider it a disappointment? Fran has made it to this point in the tournament with every other team he has coached.

I’m voting yes. It needed to be at least Sweet 16 for me.

Thinking Iowa would win the national championship was a tad unrealistic but to think the most talented team in a VERY long time would reach the sweet 16 is not. It’s a big disappointment. Beating a down MSU twice was probably the highlight of wins this season. Not sure that’s anything that special.

3 and 0 against the Badgers.

I don't know how I feel about the season as a whole. If the vote was about today and the game, then yes....terribly disappointed. This has for the most part been an enjoyable season and one where I felt Iowa could win any night they played. Watching Luka play probably makes the season as a whole one of my favorites in quite some time. I just wish the ending could have been extended a few more weeks.

I still think Iowa’s best basketball is ahead of them with the young talent on the team. Iowa was a good team this year with a strong big man but marginal players around him that aren’t good enough to be great if they aren’t hitting their shots or can’t create one due to their athletic limitations.

I bought in to the pre season hype so I am disappointed. When the brackets came out we all knew a Final Four was very unlikely.

Sweet 16 was my threshold for a successful season with anything beyond being cake, so I’m obligated to say that the season was a disappointment. Still had a blast watching and following this team, and getting to watch Garza do his thing for another year and break some records was awesome as well

I know it’s a cop out and frustrating to continually point to next year, but I really do believe that Iowa currently has the well-rounded athleticism at every position to start making some noise when guard play matters in March. Toussaint had a really good showing in the tournament despite him trying to do too much in the second half today. Ulis held his own when he was in, Perkins got beat by some savvy plays by Oregon upperclassmen, but he made some nice plays, Patrick played well overall, and Keegan arguably had the best ALL AROUND tournament of any Hawkeye not named Garza. I still see hope for future tournament success

Just another example of Iowa fans not being allowed to have nice things.

I was hoping for Elite 8, but realistically would have been happy with Sweet 16 given our 22 year drought.

So this is a big disappointment. Best team in my lifetime (I was too young to remember the late 80s teams), with a once in a generation type player (at least for Iowa)...and it ends just like all the rest.

Losing in the 2nd round (again) has gotten old. Worse yet was the way they lost, not even being competitive. So yes, a definite failure. What you do in March is what you're remembered for. Iowa, along with the rest of the conference, has carried the banner for "overrated".

I could have handled losing a close, hard fought game to a good team, but Iowa was clearly outclassed today, and that's the part I struggle to swallow.

And I don't want to hear about next year. JBo and Garza will be gone, as will likely Wieskamp. It's gonna be a step back, to put it lightly. Next year's team may be more athletic (a good thing) but where on earth are the points going to come from? It's gonna be a struggle.

Today's loss wasn't heartbreaking. It was disheartening.

ONE Sweet 16 in the past 33 F'n years. I've had it with this program unless there is a definite shift for the better in our recruiting to recruit some athletes. Until then, this is the ceiling.

Missed opportunity to play deep into the tournament and maybe attract better recruits. Oops. Stubbed our toes yet again.

My perception of those voting no...

Overall, it was a fun season. We were competitive most nights, and had some really good wins. 3-0 against the Badgers, 2-0 against MSU, beating UNC in the non conference. The win @ Rutgers was huge and a great game. I really enjoyed watching this team play, and it made getting through this long winter and all the covid crap much easier.

With all the said, it’s definitely a little disappointing with the hype this team had coming into the season. This was our best chance at winning a conference title and making a deep run in the NCAA tourney in 30+ years. Neither of those things happening definitely makes the season disappointing. Not even being competitive in our second round game makes it even worse.

The hawks were a lot of fun in more games than not. I don't know that will be the case next year. Today just looked like Gonzaga all over again, when our normally great shooting couldn't hit much and their team hit about 50% of their many 3 point shots. I'm so happy Garza went out with a great game and if Weezy's gone, he played well too. Good for them.

It was a disappointment. Best team in 20+ years to lose second round of the NCAA tournament as a 2 seed is disappointment. There's really no way around that.

It's also very disappointing that there was no tournament last season as Iowa would have been there. I fear it'll be a couple seasons before we even make the tourney again.

The short and easy answer is yes, it was a disappointment.

NCAA tourney performance is like the final that's worth 90% of the course grade and Iowa just got a D.

Individual accolades for Luka and beating those wisky pukes 3 times were the highlights of the season otherwise.

Taking it all together it was another "meh" Fran year steering the ship.

I’m one of the few that voted no. They went beginning-to-end ranked in the Top 5 and when everyone was healthy we were really tough to beat. Oregon was a tough matchup given our guards were a bit hobbled and not 100%. I know the game got away from us and maybe I’m stubborn but I would love to play the game again against Oregon tomorrow. Today they were hot from 3 and we weren’t, it easily could have went the other way.

In general I’m one of the few that kind of hates how a whole team and whole season is judged a success or failure based on one game, ignoring the 30 other games we had to judge whether it was a good team or not. Upsets happen so often in basketball and a one-and-done format makes it hard to judge. There’s a reason the NBA does best of 7 series.

When you have the best player in cbball and a bunch of returning starters youre not supposed to lose in the opening weekend

disappointment

Fell out of contention early on for the conference championship this team was favored to win....

Get blown out in round 2 as a #2 seed.

Checks both boxes for me. Don't see how this isn't a disappointment. But good work Barta, dished out another extension right in the middle of that shit sandwich.
