I would suspect his antics would affect this poll. If these late season collapses happened and he was a likable guy, I think more people would still be on board. Instead, it's the Bo Pelini affect, and only adds more reason to cut him lose.

Lol option A is going to end up winning this poll which is a flat out lie for most who choose it. You should have allowed who votes what to be visible

Most people here supported Fran one month ago fresh off Iowa’s wins against Michigan and Indiana

So you're saying option B will win?
I'm not asking if you supported him a month ago.
I'm asking if you still support him.

I don't think most supported him a month ago even.

I’m saying Option B should win, but Option A will win because people don’t like to admit they were wrong or look like hypocrites.

One month ago, today, Iowa beat Northwestern on a Bohannon three to extend their win streak to three games (Michigan Indiana and Northwestern). Fran absolutely had this board’s support at that time

Oh, I see.
That's why I didn't select the voter ID option.

I was on the fence back then. I'm an option B guy.

Not that my username really identifies me. Just in case anyone cares what "tampahawkfan" thinks.

Not me, because the season wasn’t over. I was waiting for the collapse that I was certain was coming.

All options are valid and should be respected. That's not the modus operandi of this board though. Or any board for that matter.

I did not support Coach McCaffery a month ago; however, I did feel like he had this team believing they could beat anyone. The last thing I would like to see is Coach McCaffery leaving while Barta is still the AD (we all know that Barta is not going to remove him). The collapse caught me off guard. I thought this team would win out based on the weak schedule that remained.

Cook's regression alone is a problem. Imagine every other coach competing with Fran & staff for a kid with legit pro aspirations (meaning most B1G-level recruits). Fran has zero NBA players. Yes, some guys got close. But Cook is the guy who came in as a potential early-entry type of talent. And has this program developed his potential? Is he definitely better at any single aspect of the game? Does he have one single NBA-ready skill or offering? Athletically, in a great program, he should be more than ready to compete defensively at the NBA level. All he needs is good habits. His talent should take over from there. Name one single good habit Tyler Cook has on the defensive end of the floor.

Now, offensively, of course there is no need to even address this. There simply is not one thing Tyler brings on that end that makes him a guy any NBA team would want to spend a draft pick.

And I think that is more a program problem than a Tyler problem. We all were rightfully excited to get Cook. He may very well be the last recruit of that sort. Every B1G coach competing for the Tyler Cooks of the world can say to them that going to Iowa is definitely no guarantee at getting drafted. Fran's had a decade and he's had some talented guys. The jury is out.

I took a lot of crap talking down about Fran after the first two B1G loses from members of this board. I had a few tell me to shut the F'up and that the season would be better as that team played more games. The talent is not here. I remember as a kid the 3 years of Raveling and going into the TD years. The drift about Davis was he preferred golfing to recruiting and that is why recruiting sucked under Davis's tenure. The talent started drying up up after the 1988 season. The 1991-92 season was TD's ( 7th season as HC) was the real chance for Iowa to shine but the program lost our beloved Chris Street in an car accident with a snow plow. The 1992-season was a leaderless club with rookies Settles and Kingsbury. The Hawks had a better club the next season but the overall talent was getting weaker, especially in the PF and Center spots.

The Hunter Rawlings interference and the Ray Thompson/ Brian Garner mid term departures in 1989-90 season doomed Iowa basketball probably forever. Rawlings trying to make Iowa an "Ivy" like standard institution among its revenue sports was a joke. Redshirting freshmen slogans made Iowa the last Big Ten school a basketball recruit with true talent wanted to make a commitment. Rawling threw the baby out with the bath water. Davis mostly took safe recruits from then on. Garner could not hit a free throw or a 10 foot jumpshot but he was way faster than Troy Skinner. Skinner, Brody Boyd and Lil Lickliter should have never dawned an Iowa Hawkeye uniform. Embarassing.

Fran is similar to Davis in many regards, outside the temperment. Assistant staff happy to stay in safe career mode, recruit instate kids over getting into recruiting hotbeds to sign real MBB talent, laud their out of conference schedule victories but fail to to compete for the top 2 or 3 spots in the conference (TD was part of BT when it was 10 members/ Fran's 14 members).

I am tired of Fran's underwhelming staff (the retirement home bunch) who cannot close good BB talent, especially guards. This program needs a radical change and a HC who can recruit and close talent to Iowa. Maybe I am a decade off. I don't buy tickets anymore as I have moved to Dallas area and I told my father to quit buying tickets as until Barta is gone, Fran is going to continue to parade his creation like the con artists in the children's book , "The Emperor's New Clothes".

Spring football starts when?

This was he's best team depth wise since he came to Iowa. Didn't see this coming but should have, the redshirts of Nunge, Pemsl, and Fredrick, shorten the bench but it also meant that that Dailey, Tell, and Connor would need to play more minutes.
In Connors defense, he hasn't been the same player since he took an elbow to the head from Tyler in a non conference game.
I can understand some of his play as he tries to get other players involved and not throw up bricks. Either way he's was going to be criticized by us fans whether he shoots and misses or dribbles too much and turns the ball over. That's the nature of the beast by being the coaches son. I've been OK with his play but he made a horrible mistake at he end of today's game that was magnified by the loss. It wasn't the only reason Iowa couldn't put the game away.

Actually, FM lost me last year with that utterly pathetic display of basketball. But, he is going nowhere and neither is Iowa Basketball. Makes it very tough to be a die-hard Hawkeye fan, very tough indeed.

I’ve been on Fran to make a change. He’s stuck to his guns the past 9 years and something needs to be fixed. As a season ticket holder he needs to do something to mix it up.

Fran is/was not going anywhere regardless of how bad they were this year because of the buyout.

ON a results level, I haven't been impressed and I'd be okay with him being fired at anytime , starting last year, except I'd prefer Barta to be fired first. This year would have been nice, but another collapse means they are playing shitty ball into tournament time.

I would support Fran if he'd showed any signs he understands why his teams have collapsed. Keeping the same assistants---they are all yes men, not going to rock the boat, Fran not doing anything with the two schollies that opened up last year...his recruiting style doesn't match the type of ball he plays...gotta be better on defense...this is all Fran's show. JoeT should be able to beat Fran's kid out for PT next year...that will be interesting drama to watch.
