Pornhub sued for allegedly serving nonconsensual sex videos

Dozens of women sued Pornhub and its parent company Thursday, alleging that the site knowingly profited from videos depicting rape, child sexual exploitation, trafficking and other nonconsensual sexual content.

The civil complaint alleges that Pornhub parent company MindGeek, one of the largest online pornography companies, is a "classic criminal enterprise" with a business structure created to monetize nonconsensual sexual content — allegations Pornhub denies.

The suit was filed by Brown Rudnick LLP on behalf of 34 alleged victims of sexual exploitation, including minors, rape and human trafficking, and is seeking damages and protection for plaintiffs.

2) do they simply not give a crap?
2B) are these types of videos a big draw and they’re making a lot off them in advertising? I might be too normal or not enough of a deviant, but who’s out searching for these genres?

3) maybe we should start sending threats of litigation to anybody that downloads these or regularly views them?

Interesting that Pornhub is always the target when there are a ton of other similar sites that are not as lucrative yet just as likely to have these issues. Also worth pointing out that ALL sharing social media sites have this issue. Horrific stuff is posted everyday to YouTube, Twitter, Facebook that sometimes takes weeks or longer to get found and removed.

1. I‘d be curious what is required to post a video. If you’re in the “amateur” category, can I just post a vid of me with OP’s mom? Does she have to sign off? If it’s clearly a consensual video, it’s probably almost impossible to validate that both parties are actually cool with it being posted. Age verification has to be a nightmare as well.

2. Of course they don’t give a crap.

2B. These types of sites (any of the “bad” categories of pron, gambling, etc.) are rife with pop-ups and bad links. If it wasn’t profitable, they wouldn’t be doing it.

3. Maybe? Somehow, there has to be risk to these sites or else it’s just a free-for-all.
