Positives with Sullivan.

I was sold when he threw the shuffle pass and then became the lead blocker

It was nice to see a non-opponent QB make a back-breaking scramble for a first down to extend a drive.

Just one or two of those a game can be…well…game-changing!
Exactly.

when Sullivan took off on those runs, I had to stop and come to the realizationthat that was an IOWA quarterback outrunning the defense and causing them fits, not the other way around. It took a minute for it to register in my mind that it was one of our guys, as I am so very used to seeing the opponent do it to us.

Ironically my favorite run yesterday was the one where he ran to the right, then ran all the way to the left, only to throw the ball away. I couldn't tell you the last Iowa QB who managed to do that.

Wish our WRs would have seen what was going on and helped him out, though!

Curious as to why we have so many board member that don’t know the difference between stubborn and arrogant.
There is nothing arrogant about kf. He may be the most humble genuine coach in the game.

Maybe. I doubt you have any personal close knowledge either way. A public PR persona is what we see. I would say some of Kirk's actions, like promoting his son at accelearated rate to OC and not taking any actions to correct the mistake are indicative of a guy that is very sure that he has a lot of power/leverage in running the program, thinks he knows best, and doesn't give a chit what fans thought. That is arrogant on a level.

He was the second leading rusher today with 41 yards and 5.1 yards per carry. His passing stats were modest, but I recall a couple drops and no bad misses. He took a moribund offense and injected life. No way he doesn't start next week which I'm excited about because I have tickets to the game and I had zero interest in attending and watching Cade make mistake after mistake.
Dont leave too early for the game because Cade may well start .

I believe he is a good QB. I think he can become very good. I don't think he's capable of being great, but Iowa only needs a good QB. His mobility is exactly what we've needed the past four years when our OL and WR rooms have been subpar.
Great minds….😉

That would keep me away for sure. I don't need the frustration, and frankly I believe that decision would drive the administration to consider whether Kirk continues to lead the program.

There were in shock from what they were seeing. Couldn’t react because they didn’t know what the **** was going on.

Northwestern had to change their whole d philosophy once Sullivan went in. You saw the results. Anyone remember when he scrambled like 50 yards one side of the field to the other then he threw it away? Camera panned Kirk, looked like he was shitting his pants. Lmao
Backyard football. Lol
Game has passed him by.
I think Kirk probably at least liked that he threw it away as opposed to interception or sack. Sullivan is fun to watch. It's been so long!

No way he doesnt start? REally? I want him to start but Kirk will say Cade was 7 for 10 before he got pancaked to the ground and his head hit the turf so Cade will start.

Yeah Cade is sort of streaky, like Petras was. But it is that unknown when does he get bad that makes it hard to game plan.

Sullivan's legs are not streaky, he can move the chains with his legs, turn sacks and pressures to gains, and he can pass well enough right now. Give him a week of practice with the first team and let him loose.
Cade isn't streaky at all. He's one of the most consistently bad college QB's I've ever seen.

There was a noticable change to the energy once he came in. Just a change felt needed and seemed the offense took to it. Only Kirk will see it differently tho and Cade will be back.

List some of the things you liked seeing. Mine being a DL/OL coach was how it slowed down the backside rush on running plays with his threat, pulling and running at times. Too many times we’ve watched backside DEs and edge rushers scream down hill with zero care about the QBs legs. Also, NW pass rushers had to stay disciplined and in the rushing lanes.
Concur

I was gonna post the same thing. Kirk looked…perturbed.

Agreed.

That was a great play to see an Iowa QB make and WR's aren't used to that option....

Tate.

It will take them a little bit to get used to this fancy new way of playing that BF dismissed as "backyard football". 😉

Obviously Sully’s wheels and athleticism are key attributes. He was too amped up in the first half but brought some needed energy to the offense. I’m glad he got a chance and succeeded. He was uneven in his passing, but his history at NU shows he is consistently accurate with short passes. We still don’t know how well he throws the long ball.

Before Sully took over, we saw the best and worst of Cade. He looked good on the first drive and threw the Hawks’ best pass of the season to Anderson (42 yards no YAC) but also two of the worst.

Kirk is definitely stubborn, bur he's always been like this. The problem is that, "His way" doesn't work in 2024 college football the way it did 20 years ago.
He has failed to recognize that the coaches his teams play are not the same as 20 years!

That was my point. We had a running quarterback with banks and it was amazing. Not sure why we went away from it.
Running QB's have a higher probability of getting seriously injured, thus KF doesn't want to put them in that situation. Never mind the positives.

So have more of them. Easier to replace a runner than a super skilled pocket passer.

Pretty sure I've never seen that before, not to that effort level at least.

And while that play was bombastic, he proved his moxie and football IQ when after running about 30 yards from sideline to sideline looking for a small opening to gain some yardage, he pulled up and lobbed the ball OOB to preserve the yardage for 2nd down. Instead of trying to force things with his legs and risking loss of yardage and/or a fumble - or with a pass and an INT.

Hes fast as fvck and throws better than Cade. It's a no brainer. He should've been starting by week 3 at the latest. Cade brings nothing to the table other than past team accomplishments.
