Possible 1 year rentals

Now I’m going to throw this out there if you all hate throw it right back, feel free to kick the tires a bit though. Iowa could sure use a 1 year 141 pound rental. What if there was a stud who’s from Iowa, who happens to have a brother that wrestled at Iowa, who will be entering his senior year next year?
Did Iowa ever show interest in him? If not, there was probably a reason Iowa didn't show interest or a reason he didn't want to go to Iowa if they did recruit him.

My memory is kinda sh*t, but I recall Carter being pretty hyped on here by some and others not so much. When he underperformed as a Hawk, the vibe wasn’t great related to Cael coming to IC.

2021 was a freebie but he's used his other four years since. He just didn't use the free year and a redshirt year like a lot of the others to get six, so he should be done after this year.

You nailed it. He’s done. And quite frankly there’s a decent chance he never AAs. I hope he does but he might not.

Iowa was never in on him from the get go. Turns out it was a big miss although they needed although idk if he would be as good under the iowa system as what schwab crew has done with him.

I think psu goes after the Campbell HW. Big Mirasola doesn’t look like he’s ready to be a top half AA right now. The Mirasola’s situation is interesting to me. Barr is a smaller 197 but if he wants to stay up there then he won’t be small next year lol. Mirasola can make 184 but you have Ryder there also until Levi graduates after next year. I could see both Mirasolas or the big one and Ryder miraculously getting “injured” and get a medical to not lose a year of eligibility.

Back to the Campbell HW. With all the HW’s that are leaving all the big teams other than Iowa and Ohio state will be after this guy. If it’s all about money then he may end up someplace else. Michigan and Okstate have to be all over him as well. Going to be fun.
Sry so long. Back to lurking

Wait...what? He's a 5th year senior who not only has never been an AA, he's yet to finish ahead of Iowa's entry at his weight class at the NCAA tournament. Could that change this year? Absolutely. But to call him a "big miss" is...well...a big miss.

Or it could be the fact he was upset as the 7 seed in the first round last year. In 2023 he was the 14 seed because he was injured during Jan. and Feb. and
You are certain VV or Rathjen wouldn’t have finished higher?

Don't let him take you down this road. Iowa has had someone as good or better literally every year so there's no reason to spin Happel as a big miss.

For the record, I like watching Happel and I will be cheering like crazy for him to make the podium this year.

what makes you say that? then why don't they now?

neither has ever wrestled 141 in college. VV wrestles 70kg internationally. CR spent a year at 157.

i don't see anything that suggest they could or that they'd be better than Happel.

Me neither.

Who cares? Happel is still a zero time AA and the point stands that Iowa's had someone as good or better each of the past 3 years.

4 years; had Eierman as a finalist back in 2021, which was Happel’s true frosh season if we’re getting technical.
