We own this game. Why not see what Mansell can do? Get him ready in case we need him later in the season. How is it not a win/win?

Mansell should get most, if not all, of the 4th quarter, and I think he will.

I'm not impressed with Stanley's lack of mobility...especially against UNI. One man coming through, and instead of simply side-stepping him, Stanley takes the sack. Not good.

if we get up 28 or 35, then yes, so that Stanley doesn't get hurt and also so he can get some experience ....

You all need to remember: The fastest way to Kirk's bench is to commit turnovers.

Almost half of 24.

Yep. Mansell didn't even get a quarter. I remember a very green Vandy coming in against NW when we were up and pissing the game away. He looked lost and it's just not necessary for our backup QBs to always be so inexperienced when called upon. Glad Mansell has at least got some minutes this year. Tyler got 2 throws all of last year which doesn't benefit the team had Stanley gone down.

Mansell experiment kind of fizzled there. Second and third teamers have some work to do.

I think you're missing the point. You don't think Stanley looked bad last year and this year at times? Come on you're smarter than that. The point of him getting in the game was to keep Stanley healthy and let him experience this level of football. Judging a freshman on minimal snaps doesn't pass the logic test.

Yeah good to get him on the field, obviously being the 2nd team QB. Sure glad your not the OC cuz we'd have lost that game if he had the whole 2nd half to himself. Get my point?

It's a delicate balance to get the starter reps, and the backup experience. Which one is more important right now?

Stating an unprovable opinion as fact? You're usually sober when posting so I'll attribute that post to celebrating the win with powerful spirits.

You're forgetting the importance of seeing how the two compare. Would Wiegers have looked better or worse than Stanley last year had he been givin the chance?

I thought Mansell looked solid. His INT was on both him and the WR's. Would have liked to see him get a series with the 1st team O before the 2nd teamers started coming in. The OL was poor when he was in, the WR's had the jitters and Geil looked like it was his first real college football game experience. Mansell has some flair.

Loved Mansell on the play action, then he threw a pick directly to the defender. Decision cemented.

Not that impressed with Mansell tonight. Stanley is our starter.

Not saying Mansell should be starting but how do you think Stanley would have looked out there tonight playing with mostly the 2nd team offense and with no Fant or Easly to throw to?

I'm not there yet. Stanley has made dozens of incredible throws in his time as starter. Slower start to the season for sure, but I'm not dumping him. Peyton is tempting because he's more mobile and he hasn't thrown Jake C passes in his limited snaps. But I'm not dumping Nate Stanley over an inconsistent start. He's thrown some great balls in all three games so far and the nerves from expectation are probably gone now that he's been hit a couple times. It's good to have a promising backup QB. God forbid, we might have something happen and need Peyton to win some games.

Mansell has had two opportunities so far and he looks like a great backup right now. Not ready to give him the keys unless/until Stanley completely shits the bed. Stanley has the whisper right now.

If this is for me your addressing a point that wasn't made.
