We own this game. Why not see what Mansell can do? Get him ready in case we need him later in the season. How is it not a win/win?

if we get up 28 or 35, then yes, so that Stanley doesn't get hurt and also so he can get some experience ....
Never happen with KF. You must be new to Iowa ball.
You all need to remember: The fastest way to Kirk's bench is to commit turnovers.
Insert most second or third year iowa quarterbacks under kf into above statement.Stanley is just not going to cut it against even average defenses. He gets overwhelmed and impatient in the pocket would love to see mansell get some work in there
Almost half of 24.You really think they are coming back from 24-0? Not with our defense and you know it
Almost half of 24.
Mansell experiment kind of fizzled there. Second and third teamers have some work to do.
Yeah good to get him on the field, obviously being the 2nd team QB. Sure glad your not the OC cuz we'd have lost that game if he had the whole 2nd half to himself. Get my point?I think you're missing the point. You don't think Stanley looked bad last year and this year at times? Come on you're smarter than that. The point of him getting in the game was to keep Stanley healthy and let him experience this level of football. Judging a freshman on minimal snaps doesn't pass the logic test.

It's a delicate balance to get the starter reps, and the backup experience. Which one is more important right now?
Loved Mansell on the play action, then he threw a pick directly to the defender. Decision cemented. You're forgetting the importance of seeing how the two compare. Would Wiegers have looked better or worse than Stanley last year had he been givin the chance?
Not that impressed with Mansell tonight. Stanley is our starter.

What's your former handle? You've been here before. No this is not the game thread. Yikes!

Mansell has had two opportunities so far and he looks like a great backup right now. Not ready to give him the keys unless/until Stanley completely shits the bed. Stanley has the whisper right now.
No, uniFIGHTuniFIGHT. I lost that password. For real.Speaking of which, yours is Mulva?
I'm not there yet. Stanley has made dozens of incredible throws in his time as starter. Slower start to the season for sure, but I'm not dumping him. Peyton is tempting because he's more mobile and he hasn't thrown Jake C passes in his limited snaps. But I'm not dumping Nate Stanley over an inconsistent start. He's thrown some great balls in all three games so far and the nerves from expectation are probably gone now that he's been hit a couple times. It's good to have a promising backup QB. God forbid, we might have something happen and need Peyton to win some games.
