Omaha, NE
its the dead time of the season and there's a ton of wrestling left but I thought I'd post some early season predictions. Obviously well know a lot more after midlands and ss.

25-nato over nico
33-Brewer over Clark
41-ashnault over McKenna
49-zain over bsor
57-imar over Miller
65-derringer over bojo
74-Meyer over nickle
84-dean over miklus
97-Mac over burak(assuming they can somehow get on opposite sides)
Hwt-gwiz over coon.

Im guessing Meyer will have 3-4 losses and the 4-5 seed. The kids a gamer and will continuously get better throughout the season.

Blast away

I see Nico being on the same side of the bracket as nato. So I'd slot gilman in there because I believe dance will get knocked out early and he won't have a tough road to finals.

184- I don't think Miklus is that good, but it's really anybody's guess so who knows.

197- I would assume that burak being in the finals means cox is on the other side of the bracket?

It's hard to know any of that stuff because we don't know what everyone will be seeded. I just picked who I thought was the best 2.

I don't know if burak will have a chance to be seeded two or three because I don't think he'll get to wrestle those guys and I can't see him ever beating Mac. I think he could beat the other two. He gave cox all he wanted last year.

Brooks wrestles a guy everyday in practice that used to wrestle Miklus everyday in practice. He will know everything he needs to know.

I would love to see those two wrestle this year. I would say 84 is the deepest weight by far this year. There are about ten guys that could make the finals.

141-Grothus over McKenna...

Nah bro...Just chilling, working for the city. Say man, how does the new crop of freshman chicks look at the U of I?

Don't have much issue over yours Omaha, here's mine:

125-Gilman over Nico...Gilman can beat anybody, but has a tendency to brainfart at least one match. This year he gets it done
133-Garrett over Clark...If the Brewer of last year shows up, then game over for both. I don't think he does. Athletic guys like Garrett give Clark fits on shots
141-McKenna over Da Furor (Still hoping this nickname catches on)
149-Sorensen over Retherford...Zain is good in all positions but if BS can keep the match in neutral, he can win it
157-IMAR over Nolf...although this is not a done deal IMO. Nolf and IMAR should wrestle at least two matches...it would be very tough to beat a guy like Nolf 3 of 3.
165-DRinger over Bo Jordan
174-Nickal over Realbuto...If Alex gets better and stops letting guys score in bushels in the first period, he can be here. Awful tough to mount comebacks time and again.
184-Dean over Brooks...Brooks gave him a good one last tourney but Sammy needs to do his part and have a great record going into the tourney to get seeded on the other side.
197-Cox over Mac
HWY-Gwiz over Coon

Figured I'd better get mine in before the fun police (Sloehawk) comes in and tells us it's way damn early for these ;)

BTW Omaha, I lived in Bellevue for a bit while I was stationed at Offutt. Loved Omaha...great town to live in.

Looks about right. I'm sure I'll think a lot differently after midlands/ss. Nolf is the real deal but so is miller. He's always been super talented but just has brain farts.

I can't complain at all about Omaha. Where did you settle after living here?

Miller's coaches had a brain fart too last year if I remember correctly.

Down here in Tucson. I still have family in Nebby and Iowa...My niece is about to graduate from Westside and is then headed to Nebraska for college. My folks are snowbirds who live near Ames and are down here in the winter. Wouldn't mind living back in that area once I retire from the military. Most folks up there think I'm crazy to leave Az but we'd save a ton of money on going to Hawk matches and Chiefs games ;)

He's from Austin and has a ranch down near Kilgore. He'd invite you and Matt Damon and everyone can take their shirts off.

I don't blame ya. I like having four systems. Sounds about like us with chiefs and Hawks games. Straight shot on 29 or 80 for us though.

125 - Tomasello over Megaludis - Seeding will play a big part here, so I just picked who I personally feel are the two best wrestlers at 125. Followed very closely by Dance and Gilman here. A very hard finals to call.
133 - Garrett over Brock - I'm on the Kaid bandwagon, but I don't think he will take it to Garrett. He seems to be on a mission. Again, Brewer and Clark come in fairly close behind.
141 - Heil over McKenna - One of the weights that is almost impossible to call. Lots of parity here.
149 - Zain over Sorenson - I honestly don't think this match will even be close. But I could certainly be wrong.
157 - iMar over Nolf - Miller is the only other guy I can see making it interesting. I predict Nolf vs Martinez will be a great match.
165 - Dierringer over BoJo - I don't think Jordan will be getting his revenge this season. I also think Daniel Lewis may surprise come NCAA's as well, not that I think he will beat Dierringer..
174 - Nickal over Realbuto - Lots of parity here again, similar to 141. Could be a lot of guys who can win it all here.
184 - Dean over ??? - this is the hardest for me to pick. This weight class is so even with talent it's unreal. It could be Miklus who just had a 3-2 match with Dean. It could be Iowa's own Sammy Brooks who other than one match has looked solid to date. It could also be one of about 6 other guys that I'm not going to take the time mentioning.
197 - Cox over McIntosh - Cox will take his title back again and show why he is 3-1 lifetime against mcIntosh.
285 - Gwiz over Walz - Gwiz goes down as one of the best heavies ever with 3x titles.

Team: Penn State, OSU, Iowa, ???

I am torn on the top two, but I think they will finish in that order. Iowa with a solid third place finish with the definite chance to take it all if they wrestle great. 4th Place will be a battle between a few teams, but I don't see anybody surpassing these three.

My consternation comes from arguing seeds in December. This guy beats this guy in this tournament and this guy beats this guy in this dual and this is what the seeds will look like if Grandma's Funeral isn't on a Saturday, "The Force" (shout-out to Star Wars nerds) is with this guy and it isn't with this guy and yada, yada, yada, .......................................it's insane to even worry about it 3 months out, IMO.

Predicting Finalists is another deal all together. It's somewhat wacko, but not near as wacko as arguing seeds in December. :D
