Looking at some of the players that we figured to be counting on this year...

Cook:
Continuing his high shooting percentage from the end of last year.
Offensive rebounding appears to be a much bigger focus.
Drawing a ton of fouls.
Improved FT%.
Decreased TOs.

Bohannon:
Continuing solid assist numbers from the end of last year.
TOs have decreased from last year.
Drawing more fouls.
Continuing to shoot a high 3PT% and FT%.

Moss:
Shooting percentages are up across the board (2%, 3% and FT%).
Assists are up.
Turnovers are down.

Ellingson:
Assist rate is up while being forced to back up PG.
Not committing fouls.
Continues low TO rate.
Continuing to shoot a high percentage (50% on 3s so far).

In addition to our returners, Garza is killing it on the glass. He's also not turning it over. Nunge is making his presence felt on defense with 4 blocks and 7 steals already this year to pair with efficient shooting numbers.

There is TON to like about this team. If they can figure out how to play cohesively on defense (as we've said all along), this will be a scary team to play against. We shoot well, we can rebound, we draw fouls. It's only going to get better next year bringing in Wieskamp and Frederick for guard depth.

The promising trend from yesterday was that we found a way to win. Historically, Fran's teams have relied on one guy to take over and get us the win in close games (Marble, White, Uthoff, Jok). White especially did this his senior year during the Big Ten season. I think we saw Iowa grow up and learn more about itself post-Jok. We're still figuring out how to play together with two freshman getting big minutes, and we don't have a backup PG. It'll take time, but I think that we could develop into a good team this year, and then a great team with the incoming recruiting classes.
