Well said, but don’t waste your time. If they can’t understand that wrestling is a small fraternity of closely united people that are all pulling the same direction, and when something terrible (like last night) happens it’s not just the wrestler that feels it. The wrestler has to find a way to live with it, but all around and involved feel it and are emphatic to that hurt.
If they can’t understand that now, I’m not sure any amount of explaining will help.

Not sure why it would be posted in this thread of all places, but would you please find the post we agreed to and bump it? I plan on paying but I would like to see the exacts again and I will post my proof of payment on that thread on Monday if you bump it by then.
Oh and Van Ness is who won it for you. No way I expected him to AA let alone score 15.5! Still, less than the norm Finals performances but easily made up for by Bartlett and Van Ness on the back side.

Haines and SVN offset Dean by more than enough. I expected them to peak.

As far as sense of humor goes, like I recently said to someone else on this board, it actually needs to be funny to be called “humor”.
Finally, I expected and was counting on a point drop off from Dean. Remember, he had a lot of questionable review help to even get to the Finals and he looked very vulnerable this season. After watching Van Ness lose to Murin twice at B1G’s no one but his family was rightly expecting what he did at this tourney. He deserves to be the unsung hero. Coming back from what looked like a big loss 1st round woke something up in him. He wrestled 10xs better after that then he ever did the entire year!

We don't want him either. He was banned last year during the tournament. Most have him on ignore and the rest spend too much time telling him to go away.

Wow. This is fantastic. Mike Zierath, if you bother to read this board anymore, this is how you should have been moderating it for the decade or more that you just let it degenerate into a chaotic pile of steaming dung, littered with fools that hate Iowa wrestling (largely PSU idiots) just looking to rip on the Hawks and/or gloat about their preferred team.
And in case Tom Kakert bothers to read — which of course he won’t, as he knows nothing about wrestling and cares even less, this is how you run a message board. You actually staff it with someone who gives a crap about the integrity of the content and isn’t lazy and happy to just let it become infested by countless Iowa-hating trolls (again, mainly PSU knuckleheads) spewing disinformation right and left.
Actions will speak louder than words, but if this board is actually moderated for a change and can be a place for reasonable wrestling discussion, it might some day be restored to the quality forum it once was. We can hope.

This is some good irony here. You might want to check your history. I’d guess 50% or more of the “trolls” you claim ruined this board were inspired by the unsubstantiated accusations of underhandedness you and posters like you routinely made against Coach Sanderson and the PSU program for years on end. And just today you’ve already insinuated that Coach Sanderson will overcome an athlete’s hypothetical desire to move on from wrestling for PSU by offering that athlete a payout he can’t refuse.
Look no further than yourself for reasons why this board went in the direction it did. Blaming Zierath is misguided, IMO.
This place is the best it has been in a long time since they started cleaning house. Your excuse for the trolls ect. Is that comments made here triggered them to troll. You seem to forget that this is our board. What makes you think you should regulate discussion here? I read your board once in a while and there is a ton of low class anti Iowa comments. Just a couple weeks ago a guy made awful comments about Moriah Marinelli and her pending motherhood. What isn't common on your board is a ton of Iowa fan trolls starting arguments and being a-holes. Nobody makes you read this board and if you can't read it without getting triggered then you shouldn't read it.

There have been a myriad of idiot PSU fans over the years coming here to stir the pot, unprovoked by anything at all. Just to be jerks and gloat. I’ve never been on the PSU board. If we have some jerks over there, they absolutely should be banned as well. But this board has become almost un-readable thanks to PSU fools. It’s about time something was done. Thank goodness there’s an actual moderator willing to clean house, and thank goodness Mike Zierath and Tom Kakert are history.
Like many Iowa fans, I had basically quit this board because it had been so woefully mismanaged. I’m giving it another go, as long as the idiots get booted consistently. If not, I’ll quit again. We’ll see how it goes.
It’s a Rivals board, so not the exclusive domain of the hometown team fans. But the hometown team fans will inevitably set the tone, and I think I’ve seen a correlation between the tone and the frequency of trolling.
I agree that the PSU rivals board has some riff raff. We self-police pretty well, though, all things considered. Regarding the specific example you cited, that guy got crucified by the board. He was reported immediately by a number of us (including yours truly), and his post was subsequently deleted by a moderator.
I would bet this place would get trolled less if its posters helped to make the mods’ job easy.
You’re forgetting the Gopher and Clone trolls, too. At least one Mizzou troll, and I think I recall one of the OSUs had a regular that kept coming back w/ new handles. I doubt there is much of a coincidence that this board gets trolled more than any other, and it’s not because of the moderators.
If the mods really enforce the actual forum rules, there would be a lot of Hawk fans banned from this board. More than the number of visiting “trolls”.
Thank you!! Honest difference of opinion(s) and even a level of disagreement are one thing...but people that just poke to poke should be throttled. In real life trolling behavior will get you punched in the nose...as it should.
On a message board, we really need an active moderator to keep things reasonable. Some are just out to tear things down and they should be banned, IMO.
It's pretty simple. Before you could be a-holes on your board and ours and we could only be a-holes on ours. Now you can only be an ahole on yours so it's even now.

I posted a message on the main board, asking for someone to moderate the wrestling board. It was removed. Obviously not a priority or even a concern.

I think, in the past, one might get banned only if one tricks people into reading a post about politics under the pretense of it being about wrestling. This board sells advertising now (lots of popups and embedded ads). The moderators have likely been told to stand down any enforcement that might curtail high traffic. So I now believe one is going to really have to offend the masses (like with an unconveniential porn embed while talking about abortion) to get banned.
