WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – In its first season of alcohol sales throughout Ross-Ade Stadium, the Purdue athletic department generated more than $550,000 in gross revenue.
Nearly $388,000 came from beer and wine sold in the concourse, according to information obtained by the Journal & Courier through an open records request.
“In general, it was very positive and it added to the game day experience. Fans responded to it,” athletic director Mike Bobinski said recently.
“We’ve talked to our concessionaire group (Levy Restaurants) about how we can improve the operation so we don’t create bottlenecks and long lines that cause people to miss extended periods of the game. It was a really good start.”
Prior to last season, Purdue had limited alcohol sales to premium seat holders in the Buchanan and Shively Clubs along with suites. Starting in 2015, beer and wine have been sold in the south end zone patio area to season ticket holders and student VIP cardholders at least 21-years old.
Sales were expanded to include the entire stadium for the 2017 season. The timing was perfect for the school to introduce its Boiler Gold American Golden Ale, Purdue’s first signature beer.
