Purdue next year

I think we just saw one of the conference contenders for next year. They have the youngest team in the league. Not one senior. They add two 4* players next year

There were a lot of mistakes tonight that really killed Purdue in key situatuons. Iowa continued their poor shooting from 3 and missed free throws too. I think Purdue is solid but I am not sure I would say title contender. Love Painter and do think Williams is really good.

For the Hawks, we will lose Bohannon, Garza and probably Wieskamp. We won't be sniffing the top 5 but I like where Iowa is at right now. Will look different (possibly in a really good way- defense and athleticism way up) with Toussaint (Ulis), CJ (Perkins), Ke. Murray (Kr. Murray), C. McCaffery (P. McCaffery), Nunge (Josh O??). I am sure the kid from Waukee will fit in somewhere too. Maybe the grad transfer from Yale?? :)

Anyway, all speculation as I don't even care about next year at the moment. Busy enjoying the ride of this season. Hope they can make a deep run.

They are pretty far from being contenders IMO. They don’t have any great guards. Lurch has extremely slow feet. I’m sure they’ll do what Purdue often does in non contending years - win 18-20 and be a bubble team both next year and this year.

Purdue plays a boring style. Must suck to be a fan of theirs. Enjoy the defensive snoozefests the rest of the way.

I agree. Joe will probably never be an NBA player, but he’s a really good college player. Very skilled, more athletic than people give him credit for and looks to be more mentally and physically tougher this year. Just think what he can be next year.

I think Joe can make some decent money playing overseas. Nothing wrong with that.

I agree. But you don’t leave early for that. I can see him being a 20-7-4 guy next year.

I think he returns with garza being gone and knowing he will be the go to guy next yr. cud easily see him having the stats u listed with the ball going through him more often.

I could see JW and MM spending a number of years playing in Europe. I think there's enough quality throughout this team for next year that he might be swayed into finishing out with his senior year, and with what we'd have coming back it's still a preseason top 15-20 team.

Purdue will definitely be solid next year, they were a little too green to win a game like this against a bunch of savvy vets, but with some better shooting they'll be pretty good. I like watching the way Williams makes those tough passes out of the double and seems to always find the open man. His teammates didn't reward him by making the shots last night, but you could certainly see flashes of their potential. The back half of their schedule sets up nicely to allow the possibility of a strong finish to find their way well above the bubble this year.

I don’t think we can justifiably say this right now. Uthoff has spent some legit time in the NBA, and he only had one really noteworthy season with Iowa. Joe has never had to take over games like Uthoff because of his surrounding team, but I think the skillsets between Joe and Uthoff are quite similar and will translate to the at least a real look in the league. Kid’s a stud.

That's interesting. Also been listening to Purdue fans talk about the youth and incoming talent of their football team since Brohm took over, but they haven't figured out how to beat anyone but us. Maybe their basketball team will beat everyone but us.

The sad part about seeing the dates on most posts in this thread is it's like going back in time knowing that Iowa find a way to lose at Minnesota in two days.
