Purdue will get bounced early.

B1G doesn't have to decide. Any coach can inside the B1G can optimize their roster for NCAA. With B1G getting 8 or 9 bids, you only have to finish in top half. Nobody cares if you finish 2nd thru 9th as long as you do well in NCAA tourney.
Agree but I feel like most are trying compete in league to play in the tourney instead of trying to compete in NCAA while playing in the league. I don't know. 23 years since a title is a long time for one of the big 5.

Those guards aren't going to cut it against more athletic teams.

Iowa came came out with their patented charmin ultra soft defense in the first half but they completely exposed Purdue guards in the second half.

If Iowa could have shot a half assed decent percentage in the first half they would have been in it at the end.

Eddy is phenomenal but Purdue guards will get chewed up in the tournament
You called it man but Purdue has a worse history of crapping all over themselves in the tourney than the hawks do. Keady had some great teams that got upset early and Painter continues the trend.

I didnt watch the game but I assume you were correct that the purdue guards were outclassed.

FD pressed them the whole game and they couldn't attack it.

Purdue under Keady, Wisconsin under Ryan, Purdue again under Painter--they all have systems built for grinding out conference wins + almost unbeatable on home court. Those systems for most part didn't translate into NCAA tourney play. Only Bo Ryans last teams with Kaminsky/Deckker final 4 caliber teams and they were built with more athletic talent/skills than any of his previous teams and they almost won an NCAA title.

Iowa is never going to grind out a regular season B1G crown---after 43 years, I've given up hope,

That is why we should build the team for NCAA tourney. That means Guards and defense. Whomever coach's Iowa can build a core around some Iowa kids, but they need to go outside the state get the athleticism/tough minded defenders.

ya that is what I mean.

Also I'll say it. NCAA basketball is ugly. It may ve dramatic or exciting to fans of teams. But it's ugly basketball. The skill level is really low. Just my opinion.
1000 percent an ugly game.

I don't think the skill level is that low its that the ncaa refuses to clean up the fouling that most coached base their system around.

The nba was stuck in this same crap 15-20 years ago with scores routinely in the 80s and people were bored with it. The high ups decided to change the way the game is called to stop allowing bumping and it changed the product to a wide open game. Now you never see a game under 100.

Solid call. Just didn’t think it would be by fdu. It was more the shitty shooting. I don’t know why they were so scared to shoot edey was giving them multiple tip backs

Safe to say now, the B1G just isn't any good this year! What is this...only the second #1 seed to lose to a 16? That's accurate right? Thought they'd bow out a round or two later. That's painful...

I'm a basketball guy. AAU, HS, college, NBA. I have been for 40 years. The talent and skill set at the college level is no where near where it was in the 80s or 90s. To argue otherwise is ridiculous.
That’s because in 1990 first round draft picks were 22-23 years old, now the best players are done after a freshman season.

Didn't think they were bad enough to miss 20 wide open 3's....
I did. It's the Wilson ball & tight rims. Anyone else trying to use the same cliches is a f**king idiot.

Big Ten needs to adapt or GTFO.
