Not really. It's been ranking by attrition in that weight class. There are no alphas and Drake is as good and better than most.

Why? He has one loss on the year and has beaten #6 Volk, #7 Smith and has 2 wins over McKee in his last 4 matches. During that time the other top contenders have all taken losses, some of them BAD losses.

So while other guys are taking hits, Ayala has kept racking up wins against top opposition.

This is sbout as weak as ive seen 125 in yrs. Good for ayala. I’d say he certainly has the capability of winning at all. But I would say that about 10 guys at 1:25.

Not really, 125 been chaotic and Drake got one of the best resumes this season.. he can cement that #1 with a win over Ramos

After that match with McKee Drake had a ho hum look on his face and wasn’t breathing hard in the least. Ayala matches up well with Ramos. He’s smart and doesn’t fade late in matches. Man I totally agree with that. And come nationals with three day wins that gas tanks gonna help him a ton as long as he’s managing his weight well. He walked off that mat like he walked on it. Like I said earlier, he definitely is one of the top tier talented guys in that weight and has as good a chance as anybody to win. It’s just gonna come down to that three days and who’s hot And ready peeking at the right time which we haven’t seen out of our guys in quite quite some time
