I was impressed by how they dismantled a 3-0 and ranked team this weekend, until I looked at how Boston College became 3-0.

Actually, Purdue beat a team that really has beaten two cupcakes (UMass and HOly cross) and a third team that does not look too great either: Wake Forest.

I heard Dave Wannsted say on BTN tonight that Boston College was averaging 300 yards a game rushing, but, heck, couldn't anybody get 300 yards on the ground against that competition?

That freshman, Rondel Moore, does look pretty good, though.

I have been looking at this game as a likely loss on the way to a 9-3 or 8-4 season, but am just not sure that Boston College was all that great of competition.

thoughts, anyone?

Penn st seems like a likely loss. I’m still leaning towards one-two other losses from the Indiana/Purdue/Maryland games. I feel the least confident in that Indiana game. Maryland feels like it could the annual WTF happened home loss.

I've watched every team in the Big 10 play at least once this year. Take into account Iowa playing to their competitors level and you never know. I have faith Iowa wins those games, but again, on the road who knows.

Minnesota. They have key injuries and this should be a win. Fleck is a good motivator, and it is a trophy game, but think Iowa wins.

Purdue. Hard to say, away game, and their D is up/down. They lit it up lately with Blough passing like he's Montana. That Rondale kid is flat out awesome. Definite game changer, their version of Wadley.

Northwestern. Thorson is hobbled, and NW doesn't seem to be having a good year. Still, NW has always played us tough it seems.

Maryland. Not sure what to make of them. Hill seems like a good dual threat QB.

Indiana. I hate playing Indiana, seems like they always have a decent D and also score a buttload of points.

Illinois. I never say there is a automatic win, crap happens, but Iowa should win this.

Nebraska. They are all over the map. Their D has looked somewhat decent, but also gashed as well. Their young QB looked good when he was healthy. If he's hurt we should win, if he's healthy I think we still win but its more of a game.

I still think 10-2 is possible. Only loss Penn St against that D-bag Mcsorley.

I think we possibly lose at Ped State, Purdue is a mystery, and with Larkins just retiring at NW it's hard to say what they have left in the running game. I'm not buying Indiana this year and Minnesota had not played anyone until they played Maryland. As for Maryland? Another mystery team as they have talent, but it doesn't always show up. As long as we stay fairly healthy, I think 10-2 is obtainable. Nebraska could have it's collective s**t together by black Friday, or it's players might have mentally quit by then. 10-2 if we keep improving as Kirk's teams usually do, and 9-3 if we stumble. Of course, injuries could play a part, and if we get anyone of significance hurt maybe 8-4. But I am predicting 10-2 with a loss at Happy Pedifile Valley. Now if Ped State lost McSorley to injury before we play them, then maybe 11-1 and we take the West as Bucky loses to Ped State and Michgian this year. ;)

Iowa is better than Purdue and should win. An Iowa QB (Tyler Wiegers / E. Michigan) has already beaten Purdue. The QB who beat Wiegers out for the starting job at Iowa certainly ought to help the Hawkeyes do the same.

Before the season I had us at 9-3, losing to Wisky, PSU and either Purdue/Ind. I haven't seen anything to change this prediction. I thought Iowa would be good not great, and right now we are.

I think we find out a lot penn State this week. Everyone is writing that off as an automatic loss. I know going there is a very tough task but the way the last two have gone I can guarantee that Iowa is going to come in with a chip on their shoulder. Penn State is good but not as good as the last couple years in my opinion.

Boston College had just beaten Wake Forest too ... away from home. They likely headed into the match-up against Purdue underestimating their opponent ... and the game was at West Lafayette too.

Purdue is not as bad of a team as their record indicates. They're just an inexperienced team that has been experiencing some "growing pains." They'll be tough this year and no B1G team should look past them.

I’m still a believer in Purdue even though they lost too eastern Michigan they have had a girly difficult opening having to play NW opening week and facing a good Missouri and BC team. I think they have the best offense in the big 10 west, it all depends on how good their defense is. I still believe they will finish with 8 wins with one of them being Wisconsin.

We will have to bring our A game to Purdue. They have confidence from beating us last year and their passing game could spell trouble for our corners. We will have to get good pressure on their QB. Anyone know how their OL is? Need to have our offense in full go mode too tho that's unlikely.

In fall camp BTN crew stated that both lines are shaky for Purdue.

7-5

NIU, ISU, UNI, MIN, IL, Neb (cupcakes) 6-0
Ind, Pur (intriguing; probably lose both) 0-2
WI, MY, PSU (better than us) 0-3
NW (always a toss up even when Iowa is better) 1-0

O-line is average. Result of years of neglect thanks to Hazell.

You funny .... Maryland isn't in the same stratosphere as Wisconsin or PSU. All the same ... the Hawks looked better than Wisconsin through the game this year. There are no guarantees in football ... but there's no way in hell that Iowa's guaranteed to lose to Maryland.

Also, I fully agree that Indiana and Purdue are dangerous teams ... and those games are all the more challenging seeing that they're away games. However, there's no way that the Hawks lose both ... although I could see the Hawks splitting them.

I agree that the Northwestern game ought to be a toss-up. I like Iowa's chances though ...
