Iowa fans should demand better.

Lucky you. Me, I'm stuck. Born with Hawkeye blood in my veins. Parents both alums. I went to school there in the mid-70's and was treated to 4 home W's in 4 years. Wife (no pics) and all 3 sons went to Iowa. Season tix for 40 years.

So, I watch, cheer and hope for the best.;)

p.s. I'm also a Cub fan.
My wife (no pics) went to all the games from 65-69. Normally fans (at other schools) threw the TP after each touchdown. Some games she and the fans threw TP at the start of the 2nd half since they never had a chance any other time.

Kind of like Nebbie fans waiting to let loose of their baloons... lolol...

This. Much like being a Cub fan, your a Hawk or your not. This crap of "I don't like the coach, so I'm moving on" is BS. The funny part is "the fans" who say Kirk is not above the program, so I won't follow the program. Thats just it. He's NOT above the program. Like him, hate him or whatever, he'll be moving on and Iowa football will still be here.
I will never quit being an Iowa fan. Have way too many decades invested. I have, however, quit being a Ferentz fan for a number of reasons: Inability to recruit or adjust to the new changes in the way players choose their school, Uncanny ability to find the absolute worst QB in the modern game, Stubbornly adhering to offensive principals which are extremely evident to our opponents, Drawing those offensive elements from the 1950's, Passive Aggressive attitude toward Iowa fans, who he claims to love and respect, but treats like little children who couldn't possibly understand the intricacies of the game of football, Finding one OC after another that despite their past, are now relegated to following his instructions, Acting as though Iowa Football is solely his domain and refusing to listen to any criticism.

In order to achieve this, you have to have at least average QB and WRs.

Iowa, under KF, has neither.
Offensive line, defensive line, linebackers, running backs, receivers, punters, punt returners, place kickers.

It's a team effort, upgrading everything is required to beat teams like the buckeyes. Send lots of money to pay for it.

I wish we had some neanderthals. They were mean, abut 4 times stronger than the average human, much higher bone density, and routinely killed shaggy elephants armed with only pointed sticks. You can't get much more gigachad than that.
Defensive line?

In 1981, we went to the NW game in Evanston. The NW cheerleaders put their mascot in a cage and weren't going to let him out until NW scored. You could hear the thousand of Hawk fans chuckle.

Final score Hawks 64-0. I think maybe they let him out at halftime to go pee, but then back in the cage.

I think the Hawks were up 30-0 at the end of Q1. So, Ron Gonder and Mike Riley (WMT radio) "passed in the song books" as was their habit when the Hawks had put away a W.

On the way to the game, we saw a sign pointing to Interstate 94. Underneath it someone wrote "Northwestern 0"

Now THAT was a good day!

This is just Goddamn embarrassing. It's not cute, funny or a novelty. I might actually fight the next person I see with a punting is winning shirt.

Maybe other diehard fans feel similar to me these days:
I used to look forward to Iowa football with unbridled passion each week, however, the last few years have taken their toll.
Just don't have the same enthusiasm anymore. Just having to watch a death struggle almost every week is so damn tiring.
And forget about any optimism against anyone with a pulse. That is just nonexistent under KF anymore.
I find myself just checking the score while actually watching a better game with better coaching and modern thinking that knows how to actually adapt to the changing landscape.
It's just time. KF has had a good run but damn I feel myself literally aging while trying to watch us play football anymore. Sad indeed.

If it doesn’t entertain you, you should.

It’s a game.
I agree. Too many stressful aspects to life today. Why intentionally watch something that doesn't give you pleasure. I always start watching the games, hoping someone at the top will actually enter the current century of college football, but if I see us playing with one arm tied behind our backs, and no changes in sight, I will find something else to do.

Who, specifically, in the fanbase is not demanding that Iowa get better?

No one wants to really answer that, other than vague bitter-sounding blanket generalizations of the fanbase.....................

And that's about as helpful as Jon Budmayr has been in his tenure at Iowa. Stop being like Jon Budmayr.
