Purdy Settles for Iowa State

Alabama didn’t back off on Purdy, he backed off on them. Not to hard to figure really. Alabama has a freshman QB who just led them to a national championship after Saban benched Jalen Hurt at halftime.

For Purdy to believe he was going to beat out Tua in the near future at Alabama would be a stretch of the imagination. His chance at playing time is much better (and sooner) at Iowa State. One reason Purdy was a late bloomer is because he had a severe bout of mono as a junior and flew under the national radar until he threw for 4400 yards and ran for another 1000 this past fall.

Alabama really wanted the Princeton recruit, but he opted for the Ivy League education.

Well you are the only person reporting it this way. So my guess is you are wrong. All the reports say Alabama, ISU, and Texas A@M offered. He visited all three and chose Iowa state
I find it odd the dsm news(who love to talk up isu) only mentioned an a&m offer.

Yea, Alabama wanted him so bad three months ago they offered him.... A preferred walk-on position. He will probably do well at State, but the level of hype that comes from their fans is delusional!

I have a business associate who is a HS football coach in the Chandler school district. He tells me that Bama was no longer a commitable offer but A&M put on a full court press late.

Other than that, I had never heard of the kid until I saw this thread. I clicked on his bio and sent my friend (he’s a Buff’s fan and ex-player) a text. That’s what he knows, FWIW.

That's because Alabama never officially offered. It was a 'we'd like to have you, but we will be completely honest in that we are waiting to see what Player A and Player B do before we make you an official offer' type deals. Purdy didn't want to wait around and not have anywhere to go if Player A or Player B chose Alabama, so he chose Iowa State.

Meanwhile, A&M got a "silent commit" from the 4-star QB (their top choice) last week and backed off Purdy.

The narrative out of Ames is one thing. The truth is another. Don't ask how I know. I just do.

The Purdy kid's interest was amplified because of so few options. He was the best fall back recruit available at QB for Bama and A&M but Bama still chose not to pursue him in the end and A&M got their first choice. But regardless, I think it signals their first QB commit isn't going to be a QB.

They haven't heard anything about Kempt yet, but I think the ISU fans that want Noland over Kempt are completely delusional. They just had a QB lead them to one of their greatest seasons in their history and they want to throw him to the side because he doesn't have a stronger arm than the backup. It would be better for Iowa if Kempt didn't get the extra year.

I'm happy with Kempt but he has obvious limitations that I think could be easily exposed now that teams have a full offseason to watch film on him. I expect the starting job to be a real competition throughout spring and fall.

He eliminated 'Bama earlier in the week (whether or not they would have accepted his commitment is a different discussion), and at his announcement ceremony only had A&M and ISU caps to choose from. That would be my guess as to why only A&M was mentioned.

We didn't beat out FL FSU LSU MI OSU ETC for Bryan.
Those offers were worthless by the time he committed.

Edit it changed my link of the school offers to a photo.....
Hell if we didn’t!

Plus everybody knows he has a better chance to win a national title at Iowa than all of those schools combined. They’re all delusional if any of them thought Bryan would go to any of those turd schools, once Iowa came in with an offer...thank God Campbell never swooped in with an offer. What with his 5 national championships, and immaculate Gary Barta teeth.

That could be.
It's odd 247 shows an offer, but in the timeline it doesn't show bama making an offer.
Weird.....

If Noland is their qb next year there will be a drop off from last season especially losing 3 of 4 top pass catchers one best wr in school history. Wasn’t impressed watching him vs Baylor and just like Stanley had some growing pains noland will definitely have his fair share next year. One thing still makes me laugh as you noted and isu fans reiterate calling last season one of their greatest and they were only 8-5. Pure gold.

Be a moot point anyways for Purdy playing for campbell cause have a feeling he will leave after this coming or season after. Be shocked if he coaches more than 2 more seasons there and doesn’t bolt for greener pastures.

And if Kempt is back, at least we have a lot of tape on him now.

If completely true, which I doubt with bias,(you and me). Why pay for official visits if you don't want the kid? A big waste of money on the universities side. Bama was interested enough to offer but decided they wouldn't take a commitment right away and Purdy wasn't going to be left out. A&M pushed for him with side options as well but in the end, he chose substance over conjecture.
