You are correct in that Alabama was interested in Purdy, but he never had an official offer. They had 2 other players they were focused on as higher priorities, with Purdy as a fall-back. Purdy saw the writing on the wall and basically said he wasn't waiting around, to which they told him to go elsewhere.
And you have it backwards with A&M. A&M was pushing hardest for the 4-star who committed "silently" last week, with Purdy and a few others as the side options. Once the 4-star committed, Purdy was informed ... BUT, he was also informed by A&M that they would still like to have him. He chose Iowa State.
I'm not saying it's not true, as I have not read every article out there, but the only place I've heard of the silent commit is on this site
Better question is if isu really did beat out Bama for 2 recruits why is it they are on the”Load More” page of the 247 recruiting rankings?
Why are you so concerned about it? Iowa gets it's recruits and ISU gets theirs.
When isu is on the “Load More” page for recruiting rankings I am not worried about it. More stating the obvious,if isu was as awesome as clown fans think they are they wouldn’t have ended up on the “Load More” page for recruiting rankings.

Brock Purdy equals Joe Wieskamp, both Gatorade POY's.Alabama and Texas A&M had the kid on their radars as a fall-back recruit (Alabama never officially offered), but both schools got the prized QB recruits they really wanted, so Purdy chose Iowa State. Congrats?

Will be interesting to see how he does without the "lob it up to Lazard" play to lean on. Luckily for him the Big 12 defenses will be just as soft next year. Honestly though I'd be concerned. Campbell has a pretty shaky record when it comes to QBs. The first QB he opted for ended up being better at defense, and the second was run out of the state by coaches and fans. Two disaster decisions at QB in three years.

I hate to break it to you but you are wrong. In fact, Christian Kirk (AA aTm wr) was tweeting at Purdy to convince him to come to College Station. This was done right up until signing day.
One rumor was that Alabama asked for him to commit a few days before signing day or they were going in a different direction. Then A&M "insiders" were spreading the "news" two days before signing day that he was picking A&M, then a day later changed their tune. Such drama in the recruiting world.
