I can choose to not deal with big corporations. Big government - not so much. Both bad. Big government AND Big Corporations. Both want to control everything.

Lucky you. I have to deal with big auto, big energy, big pharma, big medical, and big retail, although I could deal with some alternative big corp. that are just as bad, and maybe even from China. Ugh. I try to keep all my controlling companies in the USA if can help it, so I vote with my wallet when I can.I can choose to not deal with big corporations. Big government - not so much.
I think you knew what I meant. However, how much do you think our "Big" government influences big pharma, medical, and energy and for that matter, auto? The more regulations and the more pieces of the pie owned by our government, the harder it is for everyone.Lucky you. Do you mean George Orwell? Great writer. He was a lefty, but hated communism because of his personal experiences in the Spanish Civil War.And Owen Wells said Nations would be brainwashed and wrote a book called 1984.
Works both ways. Big pharma, medical and energy help write the regulations these days. And we have the revolving door for lobbyists. In government one year, and in big business the next.I think you knew what I meant. Oh the irony! This is so rich...🤣You’re labeling people something that isn’t quite accurate. Putting people before corporate interests isn’t really socialism. It’s just not corporatism, which is really our systems main focus. For instance, most every other industrialized nation in the world has universal health care for its people. That’s not socialism. It’s just putting people before corporate (insurance industry) interests.
But the insurance industry has done a good job through lobbying government officials and putting out propaganda against universal health care to the point that a big percentage of our population would rather go broke paying medical bills rather than adopt a more humane system that bypasses the insurance industry.
Right? I was thinking the same thing.
That is the most reasonable post on this thread.BOTH parties have always wanted to help the poor/sick/working poor. The problem is they both extremely disagree on how/how much/at whose expense.
When it comes to the physically/mentally disabled and aged, instead of fighting over Universal Healthcare, we should have fixed Medicaid and Medicare to clearly be defined to take care of them until they no longer need it.
How to address the poor and working poor who are of able body and mind to work is where both sides seem to disagree the most. However, clearly separating them from the above at least narrows the differences down considerably. You can at least have a reasonable discussion as to how to get them work and keep them working. You can also at least start to discuss how long you supplement or subsidize to get them there and where those monies should come from.
At some point you have to incentivize them to become self sufficient while also, at some point, there needs to be a cut off or “punishment” when/if they refuse to do so. The hardest part of it all is agreeing on what those should be and where the money and time comes from to make it all happen.
No, yours is the most reasonable post on this thread. That is the most reasonable post on this thread.
I've stayed out of this mess, which has required superhuman willpower at times. No one is going to change anyone's mind on a message board. People are too entrenched in their views of politics and religion, and many have been brainwashed/indoctrinated by so many things in this world. I don't waste my time arguing about politics anymore because I've learned some people can't be reasoned with. I won't do the same with religion because my primary purpose on this earth is to spread the truth of my God, which I often fall short of doing effectively.
I really wish we could keep the discussion on here to wrestling. I have enough trolls on ignore, I don't need to keep adding political nutcases to the list.
I don't really try to convince anyone of anything because I agree with your assessment completely. Both sides hear what they want from the sources they choose. I do it to get things "off my chest" in a pretty harmless manner. It is astonishing that people can see things so differently. That is the most reasonable post on this thread.

See, I have no issue with nearly 100% opposing viewpoints. Even when you disagree vehemently, you almost always can still learn a little something from the other point of view. What I DO have issue with, is when they believe their view so strongly that they insult and condemn you for not 100% agreeing with them.I don't really try to convince anyone of anything because I agree with your assessment completely. i've heard comedian bill burr talk about government as middle managementWorks both ways. Big pharma, medical and energy help write the regulations these days. And we have the revolving door for lobbyists. In government one year, and in big business the next.
Don't forget @bnicollsYou Ped state fans keep interesting friends. A drugged out imbecile(obviously el dub). A drugged out nut bag( obviously vodka). And a senile douche bag (iron doc). You 4 along with thom and Maga man are whacked out idiots that should take your political BS somewhere else.
I'm betting that 18 -21-year-old you would have absolutely accepted a Rhodes Scholarship.Cecil Rhodes was a racist imperialist, and so I would never accept a scholarship in his name.

WTF is "the Western Journal"?
I made pork shoulder burnt ends over the weekend. Amazing. You're making it hard to hate Penn State fans...
I use candied jalapenos in my deer jerky. It adds a nice sweet/spice to it.I grew up with a smoker.
That sounds like an interesting recipe. However, I’ve been looking for jerky without sugar being a main ingredient. We would use a brine back in the day that was a cup of sugar and salt per gallon of water. I don’t remember the final product bring as sweet as the jerky we find in stores now. Once in awhile I find a pork jerky that’s on point flavor wise but it’s not always on the shelf.
There are a couple of local markets making their own jerky here in Eugene. Imma go around and sample their wares to see if any old school jerky is on the shelves. I really like smoked chicken as well.
Any jerky recommendations would be appreciated.
Pretty sure you won't find my use of the word "hate" as in "I hate ____" on this or any other boards.I'm betting that 18 -21-year-old you would have absolutely accepted a Rhodes Scholarship.
The United States is allegedly racist and definitely imperialistic. Do you hate this country too?
Pork shoulder burnt ends, I'd like to hear more about that.I made pork shoulder burnt ends over the weekend. Amazing.
Your link looks like an aggregator site on NSM. The Western Journal itself looks like a right-wing site:
I cubed up a 9lb pork shoulder. Put it all in a pan. Season the hell out of it and put it on the smoker at 275 for 2.5 hrs. Pull it off and finish like normal burnt ends. I added more seasoning, butter, brown sugar, and some bbq sauce. Back on at 300 for another 1.5- 2 hrs.Pork shoulder burnt ends, I'd like to hear more about that.
I've made pork belly burnt ends, but never from pork shoulder.
Pretty sure you won't find my use of the word "hate" as in "I hate ____" on this or any other boards.
Buddhist philosophy avoids such strong aversion as a matter of practice.
But, Yes, the USA has had a less than stellar past when it comes to its treatment of slaves and first people's. So yes, I am not proud of that aspect of US history.
I loves me some burnt ends.I cubed up a 9lb pork shoulder. Put it all in a pan. Season the hell out of it and put it on the smoker at 275 for 2.5 hrs. Pull it off and finish like normal burnt ends. Apple/Cherry mix.I loves me some burnt ends.
What wood did you use?
You are making me hungry. I always say I would make a piss poor vegetarian!I cubed up a 9lb pork shoulder. Put it all in a pan. Season the hell out of it and put it on the smoker at 275 for 2.5 hrs. Me too. I went vegetarian for a year. Craved chocolate the whole time. (And I still ate chocolate. Lol)You are making me hungry. I always say I would make a piss poor vegetarian!
FYI - you are good to go with chocolate on a vegetarian diet. Just not vegan, for the most part.Me too. I went vegetarian for a year. Craved chocolate the whole time. (And I still ate chocolate. Lol)
Yes. But I found it odd how much I craved chocolate as a vegetarian. There is vegan chocolate as well. I was thinking about starting a bean to bar chocolate venture and that would be a consideration.FYI - you are good to go with chocolate on a vegetarian diet. Just not vegan, for the most part.
Probably the sugar/carbs. I crave sweets whenever I try the low carb diet.Yes. But I found it odd how much I craved chocolate as a vegetarian. There is vegan chocolate as well. I was thinking about starting a bean to bar chocolate venture and that would be a consideration.
I get my carbs from raw honey, sweet potatoes, pure maple syrup, sweet fruit (apples, bananas, berries, etc) and non-sweet fruit (avocado, squash, cucumbers, etc). I never crave "sweets".Probably the sugar/carbs. I crave sweets whenever I try the low carb diet.
Meh… I’m still here with you, Sharky.Pretty sure Vodka put me on ignore.
Buddhists acknowledge their dependent arising, but aren’t held captive by it as some kind of karmic vessel. That is how every country in the world has ever expanded. So you don't like world history either? Your entire life is because of what/how the USA was formed.
Impressive, I could never make it a year nor do I have any interest in trying.Me too. I went vegetarian for a year. Craved chocolate the whole time. (And I still ate chocolate. Lol)
Right on…. We can only strive to be here, now.Buddhists acknowledge their dependent arising, but aren’t held captive by it as some kind of karmic vessel.
So no, my entire life is not a function of US history.
However, I will acknowledge that had the Confederacy won the US Civil war, then it is highly unlikely that my ancestors would've emigrated from Germany and Slovenia to the US in the late 1800s.
