Yep, wife and I moved at retirement to live somewhat closer to our kids. Also, wanted a larger city to live in for more things to do, better restaurant options, etc.Did you move, or do plan to move when you retire? And why or why not?

About 200, so we can still occasionally go back to visit friends in prior location. How many miles did you move?
We already moved when the kids graduated High School. From NJ to Delaware. Slightly more moderate climate, and property taxes less than 1/4th of NJ, with the bonus of having a much nicer house.
We moved to a 55+ so we have adults only swimming pool and single floor living - with a massive rec room in the basement.
How far are you from Bethany Beach?
We’re an hour to Rehoboth. I think it would be another 20 minutes to Bethany.
Same place for 35+ years. No reason to move. The house will be paid off this time next year.Did you move, or do plan to move when you retire? And why or why not?
There’s only like 20 miles of Delaware shoreline, so all of the beach town run right into each other. Lewes, Rehoboth, Dewey, then Bethany. How far from Lewes?
Retired at 50, planned ahead and purchased Florida house before boom. Keeping 2 homes for now and snow birding. Once kids settle with grandchildren will sell NE house and purchase condo near one of the kids. My real goal is to not own a home and instead have a 50'+ cat and campervan. Sail the winters and travel rest of year. Can't convince the wife, no pic. Good luck with your planning! Timing is everything so be patient with the process.Did you move, or do plan to move when you retire? And why or why not?
I would say about 10 for me, but could be more or less. I love our house, but do not care for location within the city in which we live. I don’t care one way or the other about our city. I would say the same about the state of Iowa. I would say our existence here is very comfortable and it has been good to us, but I have moved enough in my life so that I do not have a deep emotional attachment. If our kids settle in the area we will stay. If they move elsewhere we will probably move elsewehere. Of course, if they settle in different areas that would present a conundrum.Did you move, or do plan to move when you retire? And why or why not?

My parents lived in charlotte and had a condo in pinehurst. Retired and sold their place in charlotte. Pinehurst is a great community for retirees if you are at least a social member of the clubs. Great food at 1/2 price for residents via some deal they have. They almost never have to cook. It is a benefit they have with all of the golfers constantly there paying full boat on vacation. If NC is in your sights I would check out pinehurst, even if you don’t golf. Two years out. Will not move initially as I have a trophy wife (no pics) younger than I. Eventually we will head south likely to North Carolina, currently looking at areas to snow bird as test run
Interesting take. I hope you die at your desk doing what you love. All this early retirement talk makes me sick, if you’re still able to work….get to work.
Trump desperately needs to change the culture of this nation and get everyone back to work. Somehow everyone thought COVID meant they could start retiring before they hit 70-75….not how it used to be.
Well that take mainly applies to everyone else….not me of course.Interesting take. I hope you die at your desk doing what you love.

The whole snowbird thing wintering in Florida and summering up north is appealing. If I were you I would look further north than Iowa, as it’s pretty hot here too. Mid to upper Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan.I likely have another 20 years, maybe a few more, but I do intend to at least have a second home. I hope to move to someplace that has milder summers. Too damn hot in north Florida over the summer.

Ah, I see now his posts were likely tongue in cheek. Perils of using an alt handle when there are so many real wing nuts here.Trying too hard.

Moved a few miles away to a condo a couple of years after retirement. Had a big house we didn't need or want to take care of any longer, so we downsized. No more mowing or snow removal.Did you move, or do plan to move when you retire? And why or why not?
I disagree with you on so much, but this deserves a round of applause. Excellent job.Retired at 50, planned ahead and purchased Florida house before boom. Keeping 2 homes for now and snow birding. Not today. We have 2 kids in their early 20's just starting out. One lives in Vegas and one is still at home looking for that first career opportunity after college. My wife's elderly mother is still around as well.Did you move, or do plan to move when you retire? And why or why not?
Moved from iowa to fla due to iowa’s past tax rates and policies. That plus weather, etc.Did you move, or do plan to move when you retire? And why or why not?
