Random question:

Lets just say Iowa & Wisky had both finished 5-1 in the West Division & 7-1 overall in B1G play. I know Iowa would still be going to the championship game in that scenario because of the head-to-head tiebreaker rule.

My question is this: does the B1G label two schools in that position as "co-divisional champions?" Or do they simply call Iowa in that example as the division champ?

Nothing official on www.bigten.org or in the rules use the wording "co-champ," but a friend of mine is arguing that Iowa would've been branded as a co-champion of the west division in that scenario. I disagree.

Iowa would have been co-champs of the division. Kirk said earlier in the week that the Hawks wanted to win it "outright".

What makes it different than before the B1G had divisions?

They were called Co-Big 10 Champions.the winner of the head to head plays in the CCG just like playing in the Rose Bowl.
