That's not new though. It is rare for JUCO players to redshirt, but you can redshirt and then play 2 years. Or are they somehow playing 3 years in JUCO without a redshirt?Feel bad for all these younger football players to a degree.
We're seeing 24/25 year old players.
Hell, my grandson has teammates playing juco in their 3rd years.

Injuries happen. Work hard. Be ready to go in. They will get in.Feel bad for all these younger football players to a degree.

Yeah, Schulte is a very solid player and he is the QB of that 2ndary. I think Phil's safeties could get more INTs except they are supposed to play deep and safe. And Schulte has some tough coverage assignments being 10 yards deep at the snap but needing to get to receivers in certain coverages.Nice. He played quite well the past two years. Reliable, dependable, and his communication skills are integral to the success of the secondary. Saw a few people on Twitter saying "Dude sucks...we don't need him...hope he decides to go to dental school." I get being excited about Entringer's potential, but would they really rather have him and his 50 career defensive snaps starting, while having Kael Kolarik as the third safety? Yikes.
Defense is just about complete. Would feel a lot better if we added a depth piece at DT and ideally another at corner. Might be difficult with the current number of schollies.
So BF normal output for the first 3 weeks, I'll take it!Experience , cohesion , depth . Iowa's defense will be ready Week 1 and it is a good thing with a new offense and Coordinator which in the best of Worlds will take a few Weeks to get it's feet under itself
Any chance Entringer could play CB?Nice. He played quite well the past two years. Reliable, dependable, and his communication skills are integral to the success of the secondary. You need to expand your thinking. He’s been a starter now for two years on one of the best defenses in the country. If he wasn’t the best safety on the team, he wouldn’t be starting. He’s smart, a sure tackler who hits like a ton of bricks. Oh…….and he’s a walk on whose dad is a highschool coach. He’ s very goodI’ve never thought to myself: “Schulte is good.”
That being said, there’s an obvious benefit to playing alongside the same guys over several seasons.
Tough to say with the limited amount that we've seen him play, but I would guess that he doesn't have the change of direction agility needed to succeed at corner. Maybe he could excel at CASH, but I doubt we'll ever see him outside regularly.Any chance Entringer could play CB?
This. You don't notice the FS so much when in position and making the plays he's supposed to make. It's the deep balls that aren't attempted because the FS is helping over top. It's the big runs that don't happen because he fills the cut back lane on the backside. You need to expand your thinking. Last year for Covid players so this should change moving forward. Those young men should all get a nice NIL package. They essentially put the semi pro leagues in college now.
The next Wisconsin RB is looking forward to running him over multiple times next season.
where was he going ... portal to DrakeOFFICIAL: Quinn Schulte is returning in 2024.
Schulte's return means that Iowa will return 8 of 11 starters from 2023's excellent defense in 2024.

😁
not sure how they do that if scholarships are full. The defense is gonna be a delight again!! I just can’t figure out the offense.
“hits like a ton of bricks”……lmfao. While he’s a heady player who’s usually in good coverage position, he is by no means a thumper & is more likely the one getting run over.
Just to be clear, the 2025 season will be the last year in which covid years can be used. So Hurkett, Craig, Leshon, Logan Jones, Lachey, Elsbury, Black, and Richman could all play an additional year if they wanted. Nobody tell Richman though, thanks.Last year for Covid players so this should change moving forward. Those young men should all get a nice NIL package.
I disagree, he got trucked by RB that's a big man, one time. QS is normally in much better body position for that not to happen. lastly, it happens to a lot of players, even DL and LB.“hits like a ton of bricks”……lmfao. Is it true that every roster player gets at least 38K in NIL? Thought I came across that somewhere...Last year for Covid players so this should change moving forward. Those young men should all get a nice NIL package.
Yeah...I am sure you know more than Phil on who should start for his defense.and receivers run right by ... no business playing
Allen is still dizzy from the hit he took last year where he fumbled. The next Wisconsin RB is looking forward to running him over multiple times next season.
😁
Not to be a debbie downer (although I may be), I see potential for 7 losses above. First 3, plus NW and Maryland are the only ones I see as favorable. What do I know tho! There should be a lot of excitement going into next season; guessing the home games will all be sold out again.
Hopefully we have an offense that actually complements our D and Special Teams.

Check the stats, he's 3rd leading tackler on the team behind Higgins & Jackson.“hits like a ton of bricks”……lmfao. While he’s a heady player who’s usually in good coverage position, he is by no means a thumper & is more likely the one getting run over.
