You mean like "The Confederate Flag Didn't Stand for Slavery" you and Kiting keep regurgitating on here? Funny how you get to pick and choose which "facts" you want to be known.
Please provide me a link with the "fact" that pirates like Edward Teach (Blackbeard) was on a ship that brought slaves to America. You're so sure of this fact you shouldn't have an issue.
What f*cking difference does it make? Are you actually sitting here
defending the act of Piracy? No, you're not. You're doing what makes more sense. You're differentiating the caricature of a Pirate, from what Pirates ACTUALLY DID! You're making progress if you are. If you can now publicly defend the amalgam of the Jack Sparrow-type Pirate, then you are winning! Congratulations! Now, you're moving toward understanding reality and embellishment!
Pirate- as an amalgam- is almost a figure of fondness, right? The Jack Sparrow Pirate is actually cool, isn't he?! But, in reality, in their hey-day, they were scorned and hated. They were not the scruffy-but-cute, wooden-legged caricature with a parrot on their shoulder. They were HATED by "sophisticants" of their day. They were hunted, sought-out, destroyed and the scourge of all civilized governments and societies. Whether or not they were awful enough to load-up kidnapped Africans or not doesn't mean they weren't outlaws and doesn't mean they weren't a huge threat to civilized people!
But, at least you can now differentiate between the
caricature Pirate and the REAL PIRATE!
ETA: And, WTF does this have to do with the damned Confederate Flag? Are ALL people in Iowa this sensitive to EVERYTHING? It must be cold 9 months out of the year, and
boring year-round.
