So basis this board, Fran can't recruit, doesn't know anything about in game management, can't coach defense, can't coach rebounding and doesn't utilize his talent correctly. Oh, and the assistants are terrible too.

So I am curious, how many years in a row have they made NCAA tournament or NIT?

No talent, no coaching, and no teaching, yet in the post-season........hmmm, maybe that is why they called him "magic!"

What other possible explanation could there be?

Tonight stunk but I love this team and am still quite bullish on the future. This team doesn't have a ton of margin for error. Cold Jok, not much in transition and a playing a team on a hot shooting night oh well.

I think he works hard.
He's a very good recruiter.
I love this team.
And I'm a Hawkeye through and through
But, for sure Fan's not perfect, like many of our posters.

Op pretty much nailed it. I checked the Lounge and there was only a post or two somewhat negative, and I came over here and it was like a dozen posts. I'm not sure, but I think the majority of posters over here are former coaches. Now I understand, if that is correct, why they are no longer employed.

Other than the fact that Coach Fran has not made it out of the 1st weekend of the NCAA Tournament at any point in his career, I think he is "Spades." Coach Fran has proven he can build programs that are able to reach the NCAA Tournament; however, he has not proven to be able to reach the next level. How far a coach can take his team in the NCAA Tournament is the measuring stick I use for success.

I'm enjoying the season! Outlook for the future is great.. have been pleasantly surprised with a few of the wins and obviously disappointed with the Omaha game! Iowa will be top 15 three years in a row 2018-2021 if the squad and recruits stay put!

Looking at it this way, it gives a bleak alternative future for this group of Hawkeyes. I think this group of kids has a great future.
