Hawks will have a lot of visitors for spring practices and the night spring game. Will be interesting to see who our spring commits will be. I think we have 8 commits by June!

Would be nice, but I'm always leery when Iowa gets commits that early. They are really hard to hang on to.

Yeah, the ones who are easier to hold on to are the Iowa kids who grew up wanting to play for the Hawks. Except that one guy a top Alabama and the kid who went to Michigan State.
Don't forget the wide receiver that chose Michigan over Iowa. Didn't he grow up and go to school in Iowa City? I believe his name was Oliver Martin and he attended Iowa City West?

Until we get a passing game (consistent) we will not see top tier WR talent. It's going to be hard pressed to get top talent in until then.

Keep throwing for 12 yards a game and you'll keep seeing Iowa receiver talent land elsewhere, and how the hell could you blame them?

FWIW, every NFL team wished they averaged 12 yards per attempt. And, the top 25 in NCAA. Just say'n.

Thanks for your research, but he said 12 yards per GAME, not per attempt

Well critics are going to criticize that's what they do.... I take solace in the fact that they likely get lambasted every day by somebody criticizing them.

As far as the passing game goes honestly I don't know that we are going to sign top-tier wide receiver talent as far as the rankings go ever but we certainly should have more production then we do and as far as a recruiting goes. I have a way different approach than some, if there was even a chance a kid is going to be dissatisfied with his decision about coming to Iowa I'm glad they went elsewhere and I feel the same way about employees in my workplace. It's the best way to lose cohesion & chemistry. If Oliver Martin never made it to the Nike camp he'd have never been missed by any of you.

It's a super fickle thing to follow or get upset about. Though I know many of you will....LOL

Honestly very few of the kids that left Iowa have went elsewhere and found a great start… Except in basketball LOL

And no matter who we sign people are going to bitch that's what "those people" do

Sorry to change the topic a bit, but does anyone know who is visiting this weekend other than the 2 kids from Glenbard North, Newsome and Henderson? It sounds like there will be a few others.

Newsome visited yesterday. I think there are several kids in from Indy this weekend and also a LBer out of Ohio.

Indianapolis Ath/rb/wr prospect-Tyrone Tracy-is scheduled to be there. Iowa is looking good to gain his services at this early juncture. Iowa has been recruiting him as a slot receiver.

I was hoping for everyone's opinion of who they think will be some early commits but instead it's a rehash of why we can't recruit quality WR.

Here are a few names that I am hoping will commit in the next couple of months

  1. Evans
  2. Shannon
  3. Bussell
  4. Geil
  5. Linderbaum
Add them to our three current commits and we would be at 8. Sounds like we'll only take 1 RB in the class, so offers are few and far between. I like Geils tape a lot. Evans is a great athlete and can play multiple positions, same can be said for Linderbaum, love this young man's potential. Shannon has great size for DT and Hawks have been after him for quite awhile, he is a run stopper. Stewart has liked the Hawks for awhile now, very athletic.

Was hoping for an early Waggoner commit but with all his new offers I'm not feeling as confident as before. I hate the fact that OSU and Michigan can come into Iowa and take our top players. We don't have all that many and they have a boat load in-state.

Wr prospect-I'Shawn Stewart-will be back this weekend for his 4th visit to IC. Iowa was his first offer and he has had Iowa at or near the top of his list for months..

Thanks to all of you for your information. By the end of Spring drills it would be nice to have 3 or 4 new verbal commits.

I would like to see us offer that Canaan RB out of Carolina. Very fast, little guy. Can start and stop on a dime and make people miss. Great vision.

What else do you want? Also, he WANTS to be a Hawk. After Wadley graduates, who do we have that can make people miss?

Canaan Cox. Quite a few family ties to the state of Iowa. Visited the state quite a few times. My guess is, the staff will evaluate how his senior year goes. They are going hard after "slot" wr, Tyrone Tracy, right now. If that doesn't work out, Cox could be in line for a harder look from the staff.

Warriner-the lb out of Ohio- is visiting the 15th of April. Is there another lb from Ohio visiting this weekend?
Sig, I thought I read that he would be here this weekend but you are more tuned in than I am. I watched his video, really like Warriner, definitely a down hill player who brings it. FWIW, Doyle's kid seems like the same type of LBer, likes to bring it.

Sidenote-Warriner's dad is the current OL coach/run game coordinator on Fleck's staff at Minny. He had been on Meyer's staff at OSU until Meyer hired Kevin Wilson to run the offense.

Don't forget Daniel Parker jr from St Louis area. I think we are in good position with him. I feel good about Waggoner, the Notre Dame talk is just talk according to some other people. We need to get Downing, he's a rare talent. I'm not convinced he's a ISU lock. Wish Lindenbaum(sp?) and Clark would give us a verbal.

I say we get some otackle '19 class commits from our state this summer. Really good prospects.

We have to find a place for Canaan Cox, just as a kick returner alone, please coaches.

That's too bad, like this young man. Probably a gopher lean.

I don't know enough about him. You never know what a kid is really thinking.
Hawks grabbed the Nieman boys, I think one of them was slated to play defense under their dad at Northern Illinois (Their dad,Jay, was the DC there at the time.) I know there is a difference between a MAC and B10 school...also a different situation with his dad coaching in the same conference and for a rival school. Anyways, we might have a better idea of where things stand after his visit.

We are definitely seeing tougher recruiting competition from Minnesota and nw these days in my opinion. Henderson was impressed with Minny while Newsome keeps getting predictions for nw. Throw them in with the likes of the blue blood programs picking off top in state talent (martin) or potentially doing so (waggoner) and we will be sifting over the tailings.

We really need a bounce back year of 10 plus wins to get recruiting turnt up for the future. I'm also concerned with all the tight ends going to places like Arkansas or Kentucky. We need a couple strong receiving years for tight ends to starting pulling these 6-6, 6-7 kids. I'm not dogging the guys we have but we should be tight end U.

Nope, and Id say since I'm far from the only one with this "schtick" I'd wager they don't agree with you either...anything else?

Canaan is now attending school at Remsen St Marys in little ole Northwest Iowa.

Your job is to make people want to kill you? Weird. Must be quite the miserable life you live.

LOL, yes I was just waiting for you to come back with this....actually I'm a positive, motivational guy but if you worked for me and you were a miserable, bitching, whiny ass, that was always pointing out what was wrong with people or things, I would indeed make your life miserable....and I would remind you constantly how shitty it is to constantly point fingers at people behind their backs or not there to defend themselves....

So there you have it, my life is fantastic, I'm typically fun to be around and very energetic, but I'm hell on the bitchers for sure...so I guess the only types that are miserable around me are guys like you...and I actually have a few of you working for me and every time I catch them in a corner talking crap about how things are, I set them down and point out their idiocy.

So if that's your philosophy why don't you only be a miserable bitch to people that are being miserable bitches in their posts? Your current activity shows that you come off as a miserable bitch no matter who you are responding to. You might not even be responding to anybody.

You're like the bloggers that hear an off-color joke from a comedian and start their statement with something like "Now I can take a joke. Everyone says what a great sense of humor I have, but...". Yeah sure you do...
