ABC reportedly won't allow two men to dance as a couple together on "Dancing with the Stars."

An openly gay singer, Who Is Fancy (yes, that is what he calls himself), is set to perform his new song, "Boys Like You," with Ariana Grande and Meghan Trainor on the reality competition show's November 23 episode. The song is about a man falling in love with another man, so the singer's choreographer wanted to have two men dancing with each other in the performance. But TMZreported that ABC wasn't having it.

According to the site's sources, a "DWTS" producer responded to the choreographer's request via email: "Apologies all but this is a definitive no from the network."

ABC reportedly said it would allow "near dancing," such as the performance earlier this week in which pro dancers Alek Skarlatos and Carlos PenaVega basically toss each other around to Queen's "We Will Rock You."

The freaking show is gay anyway, what's the problem?

The bigger question is why does this interest you so much?

Can't argue here.

it might help ratings, especially if two hot chicks dance together and start bumping and grinding

I agree with ABC. With two sets of nuts out there, there's double the risk of a set getting hit and one of the dancers going down with a "nut break". Not good for ratings for dance shows.

It oddly doesn't fit the music but as a sport ballroom dance is designed for male and female partners. It can be done with same sex partners but it's not ideal. It is better for one partner to have a higher center of gravity then the other. At least that is the case when ballroom dance is done and taught in traditional methods.

What dancing with the stars does is not traditional.

Given the more open style and the choreography that Dancing with the Stars likes to use I would say there Men and women traditionally receive different training and while cross training to perform the other role is possible, they tend to be less effective. You've been doing one thing your whole career and then suddenly being asked to change and do the other thing for a few minutes isn't easy. In college my partner and I reversed roles once for a fun competition at the end of a normal competition and the reverse wasn't easy for either of us.

Could also be aesthetic concerns, could be technical concerns (lifts?), could be that the dancers where not willing to part with a tradition of the sport on national TV. Although I doubt it's the last one.

You are really bending backwards to give ABC the benefit of the doubt. Are you sure you dance ballroom and not limbo?

I would find it highly odd that they would be doing it simply for reasons of opposing homosexuality as they apparently approved a song about a man falling in love with another man.

It would seem odd to me to approve that but cringe away from 2 men dancing.

Sounds like the difference between "civil unions" and "gay marriage" to me.

The competition is one man and one woman dancing.

Why does that have anything to do with their sexual preference?

Two guys or two girls together would cause different strengths and weaknesses making comparisons pointless.

Dumb.

It wasn't for the competition, it was just guest dancers for entertainment.
