Not defending the cuts, but veterans are disproportionately over represented as a percent of the federal workforce...
According to the graph linked, they've been laid off in the exact proportions they represented in each agency...

james, you’re a bitch.

No offense.
Sorry you can't have a discussion or read a table linked in the post, bitch...
Are you that clueless? Thanks vets for putting your life on the line but get to the back of the line for fed jobs.
Why shouldn't they get first Crack?
My dad dropped out of HS to join at 17 in WWII. You didn't make money in the service back then, either.

When I served in the 80's you didn't make money as well. What exactly is your point? Vets get a leg up for serving and putting thier life on the line, potentially? Shouldn't get a leg up?

Vets shouldn’t have to pay for jackshit in this country. They should get the same medical care and retirement income members of Congress get. Republican or Democrat. I don’t care. There should be no arguments about taking care of the people who protect us.
Republicans want vets to become homeless. Easier than having to explain to rich people why they didn't get tax cuts for their tenth house.

True statement

Veteran Status

Individuals who have served in the uniformed military service constituted a considerable segment of the federal workforce. At the end of fiscal 2023, 30% of federal employees were veterans compared to 5% of the total employed U.S. civilian labor force. In the same year, 25% of new federal hires were veterans.

And what is wrong with that?

Are they DEI hires too?

Both sides thinks he's onto something here...

To confirm, if all of the people let go by the federal government were non veterans, would everyone then be OK with the cuts?

Also, to answer the inevitable second question, are there any jobs in the federal government that should be cut, or is it running at max efficiency?

True, roughly about 30%. That doesn't change the fact that it could be a hot-button issue among their base, so it would have been prudent to keep that number as low as possible while still making cuts.
