I found the sequel to be didactic and the dialogue to not be as crisp as the first movie. The inner battle of self determination against our proto industrial state was enlightening.

That's like the opposite of Ebert. He hated the dialogue/story of the first but loved the dancing, and thought the second was a better story with better dialogue.

Did you ever see Ebert dance? Hardly a man capable of capturing the dance moves of Shabba Doo.
