Ronald Nored

Strange candidate. Has never been a college basketball head coach, and only has one year of college basketball experience total as an assistant coach at Northern Kentucky.

I would be concerned about a lack of experience with the college game and all that is associated with it (recruiting, etc).

I don't think it'll get to that point but I like that she interviewed him as one of the backup plans. I assume he was a recommendation from Brad Stevens since he played and coached under him. Very young but he's already got a lot of NBA experience under mostly very good coaches. I'd like it a lot as an upside swing and take that over someone like Wardle or Forbes. I bet his name pops up again in the next Butler search.

He's my #1 if it's not McCollum. I think there is more upside than others that have been mentioned.

I think this is exactly what we need (young, aggressive, hungry and seems like a great guy), my only concern would be fund raising the blue haired crowd (re: old people). jmho

Definitely looks like an interesting candidate. Worth a close look. One question would be would he use Iowa as a stepping stone for bigger programs or to go back to the pros?

All these guys will all use Iowa as stepping stone, but that is win-win. Structure the contact so he gets upside from Carver attendance and the money made from deep NCAA tourney run. Put in a buyout clause that someone else has to pay Iowa if he does end up beccoming the Next Brad Stevens.

All is not lost. Worst case we don't make the Big10 tournament next year and we continue the streak of no Sweet16s that Fran was able to extend by 15 years. We're probably not going to lose KIngsbury in the Portal, so we got at least one returning scholarship player.

Very well spoken young man. I feel happy Beth interviewed him if in fact she did so if did so on the recommendation from Stevens. I feel confident we will get a coach who can move this program forward.

Hungry coaches moving on/up can do good things for a program while they're here. Ralph Miller and Lute Olson brought us conference championships and a Final Four before moving on to burnish their Hall of Fame credentials elsewhere. I'll certainly accept a coach moving on after 7-8 years if that kind of success comes with it. Having coaches move on because of their success is usually better than having to fire coaches, which is what we've been doing lately.
