Definitely looks like an interesting candidate. Worth a close look. One question would be would he use Iowa as a stepping stone for bigger programs or to go back to the pros?
That wouldn’t matter if he is successful and gets the Hawkeyes back in the upper level of the Big Ten.

No. Please get someone who’s a head coach, with a winning record who can:
1) attract recruits
2) coach them up.
Maybe somebody like, oh, Fran McCaffery? That worked pretty well.

This guy would be a great hire, IMHO. Young and hungry and knows defense. If ya can't get Brad Stevens, get the guy he recommends. Absolutely. Anybody who would object to this hire doesn't understand leadership.

I think the poster who compared this candidate to the ND football coach is right. I wanted McCollom, and would still be happy to have him, but I think this young man might be the way to go.

Nobody heard of any of the great coaches until they got a chance.

Do the Drake method. Have a great shortlist without stupid expensive contract extensions. Next man in! Do not bankrupt the athletic dept. trying to hang on to someone that wants to leave.

I've said for a long time regarding FB and MBB - I wouldn't mind Iowa being a "stepping stone" program. I know we're used to coaches who last 15-25+ years, but if BMac or this guy or anyone else takes Iowa to the Final Four in a few years and then bolts for North Carolina or the NBA, I wouldn't have the least bit of resentment. Same goes for KF's eventual replacement taking the FB team to a conference championship and a few CFP's and then bolting for Notre Dame. I could live with that.

I think this is exactly what we need (young, aggressive, hungry and seems like a great guy), my only concern would be fund raising the blue haired crowd (re: old people). jmho
I really, really like this guy. He's a real possibility and I would not be upset if his name was announced.

But I would agree with this. Would the blue-hair reaction be the "Good morning, Ma'am" scene from Blazing Saddles?
