IMO those three alll improved going into sophomore season and then took another leap the next year. I'm just afraid Williams didn't improve from freshman to sophomore and if he stays we'll see the same thing next year
BS! You were probably one of the players calling for Clemmons or Basabe to transfer. Their statistics and minutes went DOWN their sophomore yearIMO those three alll improved going into sophomore season and then took another leap the next year. Ur minutes can go down but you improve. Other people can get better u know. If JoBo wasn't that good right away we wouldn't have sniffed 10th place in BIG because Williams is that badBS! Basabe and Clemmons were WORSE their sophomore years than their freshman years, and any Iowa fan who watched the games knows it. Clemmons himself admitted he got lazy. Basabe was considered a disappointment after his incredibly promising freshman year because he took such a big step backwards.Ur minutes can go down but you improve. That's right. You probably had Marble transferring during his sophomore year too, and wanted Gesell on the bench.I think ur forgetting we had Marble and Gesell on that team
False OMG dude just stop. U probably didThat's right. You probably had Marble transferring during his sophomore year too, and wanted Gesell on the bench.
I am going to vehemently disagree with you and say he was probably as good as there is in the country at this particular skill. Did you notice how many he threes he shot behind a screen?

I would imagine that kids want to play and if they can't get the minutes where they are, they will go where they can. That is not a bad thing and has nothing to do with being a role player or a starter. They want meaningful minutes and who can blame them? Not me.I suppose with Bohannon having such a freagin' awesome year, and with Connor coming in, the writing was on the wall. But to me it is too bad more kids these days don't accept being a role player.
But, if true, best wishes to Christian and I hope wherever he choses works out well for him.
Gesell was a really good player.....Iowa fans tend to pick out a whipping boy and he sure was one. Won a lot of games with him at the pointGessel sure wasn't a world beater by any means
He can NOT be on scholly for baseball and play on the basketball team, basketball would have to provide the scholly. It is meant to stop a school from being at their scholly limit for football or basketball and playing "games" giving a player (for instance) tennis scholly. Can you imagine some of the shenanigans that would go on!
This is not true. The scholarship can be provided by the baseball program, or whatever other program the student-athlete participates in. The caveat is that the football or basketball program would have to count him against their limit as well.

Ran the offense really well....A/TO was 4-1 for career. Finished his Iowa career 9th all time in B10 for assist %. Iowa was definitely better with him on the floor. His and Woody's defense were the things that were going to be missed that people mainly disregard. The kid was a stud on and off the floor. He was ok...really good might be a stretch. He was definitely missed defensively this year however.
Yes, but a large percentage of those were off a high ball screen. He shot allot off isos too, he just shot allot in general because the whole offense revolved around getting him open.
Did you notice how many times he got tangled up and was not able to get free?
I dont think he was great at getting open off screens, hes good at the catching and shooting part.
Having one guy run around off screens isnt a style most teams use anymore so there aren't allot of guys who are good at it.
Maybe im being too picky but I just dont think hes fast enough or has the stamina to get open consistently off screens.
You have to run twice as much if not more as you normally would in a game to really make it work like a Kyle Korver.
Like a Matt Gatens!
No doubting, just wondering she u heard or saw tom say it, not on twitter

Tom posted on the paid side that he talked to CWs AAU coach....who had taken a call from CW telling him it was not true and asking what he should do about it. He was told to call the Iowa coaches and tell them it was BS, that he did not start it, etc. Apparently that was done. CW reportedly was very concerned that the Iowa coaches would not be happy about...worried, stressed out over a false rumor.
The zone defense is becoming less and less effective in today's college game. Too many capable 3pt shooters. It's a poor option against good P5 teams.
In light of that information, please delete this thread and I'll eat my words on it. Wouldn't have posted it if Brown hadn't retweeted it but sorry for this thread.

Please spend some time and come up with a list of remaining available high school senior point guards that you feel could help Iowa next year. Then list where they are from and what interest they would have in coming to Iowa where they would have to overtake a freshman point guard that had the best season of any freshman point guards in Iowa history. Then list how many 5th year point guards that you feel could help Iowa next year and would like to walk on for their final year.....exactly. If a scholarship opens up, Conner will get it and he deserves it from his play on the court the last 4 years not because he is the son of our head coach....
It also proves that the basketball players read the message boards.
It was on Twitter which is essentially ubiquitous at this point.
So it doesnt prove much but Im sure players are aware of message boards too. Who knows if they read them, I hope they dont.

From a very reliable source. Woodbury and his parents were very aware of message board garbage. At first it bothered Woody a lot, but he learned to ignore it.
It seems if one doesn't look, well meaning someone's do and let you know what was said. I suppose that's true. You ever try to tape a game and not find out the score before you watch it?
What bothers me just as much is that recruits could be reading the board. I know, this is no way to decide a school. But all else being equal? And I'll bet all things are close to equal more often than we realize.
A $%^ $%^% fan base that treats the guys like family? Let's try it and see what happens.
The thing is, all decent sized fan bases are pretty much going to have the entire gambit of personalities represented on message boards.
If recruits read it, theyre going to see allot of the same stuff everywhere.
And I imagine the bigger the brand the crazier it gets.
