Myles Johnson is playing hard. Needs to work on FT's. They need Young, Harper Jr. and Baker to score big in the 2nd.
Some really good defense being played by both teams right now. Rutgers already has 8 steals contributing to 10 MSU turnovers. Rutgers 0-6 from the line .

.I suspect Rutgers early season 42% team 3pt shooting percentage would return to mean. They don't really have pure shooters on the team. Woof....3pt shots not going down and MSU blocking a ton of shots. Maybe outside the RAC they can't shoot.

But Connor had 1 turnover in the first 3 minutes. At that pace he would have finished with 14 all by himself.😉

Rutgers looks like they’re having a hangover from Iowa loss.
If CMAC had a turnover in his 3min vs Rutgers, then it was only because he was on the cusp of dishing 4 straight assists. The 4:1 assist to TO ratio is written into the laws of physics.
Izzo has some guy playing part time pg that looks like Lil' Lick. Izzo needs to go with the Freshman Philly kid.
This MI State team is undisciplined on offense. They look terrible. On defense they are getting away with the same crap they always do but they would get killed by disciplined teams. I can see how NW beat them.
I hope Rutgers looks like this when they come to Iowa city and I hope MSU looks like this when we go to East Lansing
They definitely look like the Iowa game lingered a bit. That and sometimes it's just not your night. They have missed more easy shots than I thought possible, and are just a terrible free throw shooting team.
This reminds me of Iowa last year when after Iowa lost that close game against PSU in the Palestra. Next game was at Nebraska and they played their worst game of the year and looked awful and couldn't make a shot.

The free throw line is definitely one of those stats where there is no gray area. So breaking news........Rutgers is really bad at shooting free throws. Need to play Hack-a-mole on those guys.
Coming into tonight, Myles Johnson for the season was a 47.6% FT shooter.
Tonight he was 0-7 from the charity stripe.

That game was God awful. From every angle. Just God awful.
He's close to 50% (actually now 47%) for the year on 3's, so he's been making them against everyone. He was 3-8 against Iowa. Good player. Folks were questioning whether it was sustainable that Rutgers could shoot 40% from 3-point range for the whole year. They will shoot better than 3-12 in upcoming games, but they also might not stay at 40% for the whole year.
Its all that intense defense by MSU that affected his shot.

So you think it's just a coincidence that team's shooters go off against Iowa and have career days one game after another? How big of a sample size do you need before you realize it's the Hawks defense?
He is a good player, but I actually had to laugh out loud at his goofy "tough guy" face after his dunk on the missed FT rebound late in the Iowa game. He appeared to be jawing with the Iowa bench at different times during the game (nothing too ugly, it appeared), and then stared them down after the dunk, but the face he made was unintendedly hilarious. (i'd find it and link it if i had more time).
Those were my exact thoughts in watching them in this game....not quite lethargic but the first post about an Iowa hangover I think is right on the money....
Although it helped Iowa in the standings to have MSU win....I was pulling for Rutgers the whole way. Just want to see MSU get burried and I really thought Rutgers would do it........
This is life on the road in the Big. That’s why it was huge for Iowa to steal that game at Rutgers. You have to protect your home court. Rutgers let their home loss turn into two losses.

Some of you guys are acting like Rutgers is the 2nd coming of UCLA under Kareem. They’re a solid team that’s a lot better at home than on the road. Not sure why you expected them to win this game.
