Rutgers at Michigan State

Some of you guys are acting like Rutgers is the 2nd coming of UCLA under Kareem. They’re a solid team that’s a lot better at home than on the road. Not sure why you expected them to win this game.

Good question...from my perspective (I don't pretent to speak for others) I think that Rutgers is a couple steps above solid. They are a top 15 level team that is full of athletes, that values playing defense at a high level, and has offensive weapons. They have strength both on the inside and on the outside....last but not least, they have a REALLY good coach. I believe they will finish in the upper half of the B10...which is clearly the best, toughest, deepest, conference in college basketball. That pretty much makes them an NCAA Tournament team....and if they are playing well at that time they are capable of making a deep run. That of course is no where close to UCLA/Kareem territory.

The point being...in this conference, this year, that was an extremely good win for the Hawks,

After the big loss to MSU they are now 33 in Pomeroy rankings, so one could argue they aren't a Top 15 team. Their performance away from the RAC hasn't been great. They won at Maryland by 14, but lost by 12 to OSU and 20+ points at MSU.

Biggest thing with Rutgers right now is they need to get healthy. KenPom has them at 10-10 now for Big 10 record. I would guess that they end up better than that, but you can be .500 in the Big 10 this year and be a good team.

Harper splashing two straight nba threes against us, proceeds to airball vs MSU. SMH

I pointed this out in another thread. The 2018-19 season he hit 8-14 3 pointers against the Hawkeyes and shot 23% from 3 in all other games. He has a couple of his career best games of 27 and 29 points against Iowa. Hawkeyes seem to bring out the best in Ron.

Well for one reason Rutgers is a decent team, and for another reason have you seen what Michigan State has been calling basketball this season?...

My guess is 9-11 and MAYBE 8-12 could get a team a 10-12 seed bid this year depending on their quality wins, schedule, and so on.

He is a good player, but I actually had to laugh out loud at his goofy "tough guy" face after his dunk on the missed FT rebound late in the Iowa game. He appeared to be jawing with the Iowa bench at different times during the game (nothing too ugly, it appeared), and then stared them down after the dunk, but the face he made was unintendedly hilarious. (i'd find it and link it if i had more time).

He also stared down Keegan a bit after taking a hard foul.

Iowa did hold him to a season low in points.

So you think it's just a coincidence that team's shooters go off against Iowa and have career days one game after another? How big of a sample size do you need before you realize it's the Hawks defense?
First of all......

And lastly, I stand by what I said............deal with it. :D

had you seen Michigan State play prior to last night? They've been awful

And the Breslin Center without fans is suddenly a neutral court; I fully expected RU to win but with the way 2020/2021 has been going in the B1G, of course MSU ended up winning

Michigan State wasn’t even that great last night either. Just good enough to beat a team that couldn’t throw it in the ocean. Sparty will still be lucky to get to 10-10. And Rutgers still stinks on the road.

I thought that right before the half and then again in the final 10 minutes Rutgers looked really fatigued. That definitely speaks to how hard fought our game with Rutgers was. I think we are really fortunate to not have to play until Thursday.
