Rutgers Athletics Fiscal Disaster

Facts are pretentious?
No but your freaking arrogance is! All your " thank us for your checks" shit. Like you asshats were going to be getting 55 to 60 million a year before you joined the BIG. Not! And THAT is a fact.......

I'll argue bringing in UCONN instead of RU would've done the same for all those magical new viewers. At least UCONN has one sport it's consistently good at.

Never said we were. It was a win for us and you. Talk about arrogance. Like you would be cashing these checks without us and our market.

Good Lord. You to realize that YOU, yes YOU are the one who came here and started all this. "your welcome for us joining the BIG and making you guys all this $$". That was YOU! Yes were, making more money now, no shit. BUT the fact is we were doing well before financially, (as has been pointed out, Iowa athletics pays their own way without $ from the University), and as part of whatever the BIG was with, or without Rutgers the TV contract would have been huge and the best in college football. Now please respond, where would Rutgers have been headed with the demise of the big east, and what would your coffers have been without the invite to the BIG? Without question, Rutgers certainly gained more based on where they were previously financially, then the BIG members did by admitting them. On this there is NO debate.......

Uconn! Great call! Except for two things. Uconn isn't in the NY/NJ DMA. AKA the number 1 market on the globe. They also aren't an AAU member.

Other than that, you nailed it!

We all gained. That's the point.

Quite a bit of Conn. residents commute to NY, just saying. Same market.

Wrong. Southern Conn.. yes. Stamford, Greenwhich, New Caanan, sure. Storrs? No.

And no, they aren't in the NYC/N.NJ DMA. Guys, this stuff is readily available at you fingertips. Doesn't take much. Happy to keep educating you though.

We brought a TV market that other teams would have brought and a doormat of athletics to your conference. You supplied us with millions of $$. Like I said, we both benefited! -Caliknight

When the truth of the matter is that there WERE other options besides Rutgers that would have brought the same in terms of TV market and much more in terms of athletics. The benefit to this arrangement was to Rutgers. Aside from usually having easy wins in football and basketball, there wasn't much benefit to the rest of the league.

You don’t like it because Iowa isn’t in the top 50.

Syracuse fanbois lol. I’ve seen it all here.

I have already said our market was the draw. Man you guys are slow. And guess who was the only school in our market that fits all the criteria? It wasn’t NYU or St. John’s.
Do you have to act like an arrogant dbag? I mean seriously. Do you think you’re only talking to a bunch of farmers here who need to be educated by your highness?

Congratulations on going to Rutgers. Good school. Do I respect you more because you live near New York City? Or because you pay a lot in property taxes? Ridiculous.

I spend a lot of time in New York City, most recently because my son is a student at Columbia. And all of his CU friends and professors I’ve met over the last few years have been so much more humble, as well as informed, then you seem to be.

Rutgers is a good school - GREAT Phil program btw - but its athletic department is still a charity case and ongoing scandal. Iowa, on the other hand, is one of the top revenue generating programs in the country.

We don’t need your lectures.

and we don’t need corrupt referees handing your basketball team a victory either.

show respect, Play fair, and grow a pair.

Outside of a huge influx of money, yea, no benefit.

Who were all of these schools that could have given you our market, are AAU members and have D1 athletics including football? Names please.

I'd say the dbags are people spouting off about things they are clearly uneducated in. I have respect for Iowa as a university. I also have respect for farmers. And I don't live in NYC. I live in Beverly Hills where you are right, property taxes blow.

After my head hit the pillow that night, I have yet to concern myself with that loss. If it strokes your ego to believe otherwise, go with it.
And do not misrepresent me. Go back and see my posts in this thread.
Thinned skinned some of you are.

Where did I say he started this thread? Reading comprehension issues? I SAID he started the crap about how we, (Iowa fans) should be thanking Rutgers for joining the BIG and lining are pockets, as if Rutgers hasn't been the bigger beneficiary....

Syracuse as I already stated. Others as well in different large markets other than New York.

We didn't need you, sweetheart. You needed us. Again, you're welcome.

What other schools in those smaller markets? I still haven't heard any names.
I'm not going to do your homework for you. The Big Ten was looking at numerous schools and probably still is. Google it.

In your own backyard, Syracuse would have been a better candidate. Your question has been answered and you don't like the answer so you're asking for more.

I already factually disputed why Syracuse was a terrible choice. I can see you are impervious to factual information.

And why didn't the great Jim Delany choose them? Or any other schools you are claiming? Because Rutgers was the brought the biggest market in the country and no one else could. And he has has been proven correct.

Guys, guys, settle down. Rutgers is ahead of Iowa until the Director’s Cup Standings. Step aside, Purdue. Bow down to our new overlords.

The current standings (Learfield Director's Cup) as of Jan. 13th, 2022, have Iowa ranked 56th (11 in the B1G), and Rutgers stands at 28th (5th in the B1G).

Well thank God for Rutgers. The self sufficient Iowa program could never afford a 7 mil a year contract extension without that MAJOR market Rutgers brought into the fold. Thanks Rutgers. Ya hear that guys? We have Rutgers to thank for 7 more years of KF.

Ah, the post hoc ergo propter hoc logical fallacy on full display. I thought Rutgers had a great philosophy program. Maybe you skipped the intro to logic class then?
@DavidGraeberBullSheetJobs Props for knowing the terms, but in all fairness the fallacy you brought up is an informal one, and given that these forums are informal, hyperbole and exaggeration are commonly accepted, as is occasional shit-talking, when making a point as opposed to making a formal argument. But you knew that. I like your style, especially since your post incorporated the same fallacy you brought up.

You are correct about RU philosophy, as Rutgers is frequently ranked the #1 philosophy department in the country, going back and forth with NYU for the top ranking. Rutgers, Princeton and NYU had been the top three for many years, but Princeton lost some ground when other departments beefed up their offerings and hired some world-renowned thinkers.

No one cares other than Jamie Pollard and Rutgers fans.
Funny, you mentioned the Director's Cup, but I guess you don't like the results. So you're doubly p*ss. I get it. You were one of those guys who hated the addition of Rutgers, and you've been vocal about it for some time now. There isn't much you can do about it other than accept that there may be more games like this in the future. FYI: 5 of the last seven have been decided by 5 pts or less.

I’ve been vocal about it? Please use the search function and find a time that I’ve spoken negatively about Rutgers. I’m making fun of the Director’s Cup because it’s irrelevant to 99% of the people who follow college sports.

Beverly Hills must be boring as hell since you spend all day on another team’s football forum. Educate me about that. Please.
