Rutgers Athletics Fiscal Disaster

Capital improvements were most certainly made. And we do get a “share”. Just not a full one. That will come in 26. The only thing changing is financial reporting which will be in line with all other B1G schools.

Since Rutgers and Maryland were added, Big Ten revenue went up almost 2x. You’re welcome.
LMAO

I’m able to do whatever I want in life. You can only play so much golf and travel the world so many times. Consider yourself educated.
Well, now we know where the pompous ASS attitude comes from. and consider us just disinterested....

Don’t ask smart questions if you don’t want smart answers.
At no point in this thread did I ask YOU anything, except who profited more financially from Rutgers joining the BIG, the BIG or Rutgers. You don't seem to want to answer that question, (honestly anyway) because you know as well as I do that regardless of the leagues revenues going up with the two east schools joining, the BIG was doing fine, and their next contract will still have been bigger then the last. Maybe not as big depending on who else joined, but most likely still the best of all the conferences. Now Rutgers on the other hand has been vaulted into an entirely new financial level with the windfall their about to start receiving as a full member in a couple of years Surely WAY more then they would have gotten previously and its not even close. The BIG and the SEC are the only conferences who wield that kind of financial clout, so YOUR welcome.......

I never said you did. I responded to DavidGraeber. Stay with us here, it’s a message board. It’s not that hard to follow.

And yet your having a hard time answering the question. It shouldn't be that hard to follow along.....

The fact that a guy with a rutger's degree thinks getting Rutgers in B1G helped revenues shows why Rutger's degree is not worth much. Second rate school academically and in sports.

Rutgers doesn't even have a big instate following. Iowa might not be a high eyeball state, but the eyeballs are on the Hawkeyes, not pro teams.

^ Another guy with zero understanding of carriage fees. And it's Rutgers. Not Rutger's. If you truly want to be educated and sound like you know what you are talking about, read through the thread. I've explained it all already.

Rutgers is ranked higher than Iowa academically, and has better overall sports programs across the whole department.

Iowa has 3MM people. NYC alone has almost 9MM not including the rest of the market. We are the only D1 football school in our DMA. Iowa splits that tiny market with Iowa State.

So was Rutgers added to boost TV viewership or not? You guys can’t have it both ways just because you’re throwing a tantrum.

You also don’t have any pro teams, because Iowa. But don’t worry, we’re able to chew gum and walk at the same time.

Rutgers was added because BTN could be added to cable packages, specifically bundled with the YES network. You 11 million people want to watch the Yankees? Great. You’re going to pay for the Big Ten Network too. Genius move by Delany and Fox.

Now, Rutgers does very well in terms of eyeballs in the DMA but that matters little as it relates to monetizing BTN via carriage fees.

So is Rutgers currently in good/bad financial shape? Not 5-10 years from now or hopefully. Currently.

Great. Massive revenue jumps coming, proper accounting, and infrastructure builds taking place with more to come. No issues whatsoever.

Great to see. I had read that they had some issues and had a pretty significant debt load but were moving in the right direction. Sounds like they got through that already.

I would say it’s being worked through. Little concern though. The proverbial oars are all rowing in the same direction now. The next media rights deal is going to be stratospheric which is great for the entire conference.
