Why do I say that? It's obvious Brian is not cutting the mustard as OC. Kirk is NOT going to get rid of him. So after another year or two of this, we will have to fire Kirk because of her unwillingness to replace Brian.

I hope hes not forced out and i have been very critical of his job performance for a few years. Just hate to see the guy get villified due to his on the field performance when his off the field far out wieghs it.

But in the end it’s about winning football games. Kirk would make a great neighbor. But with his offense and recruiting strategy stuck in 1984, it’s not working out on the field.

There is not one member in the Iowa media or booster base that has experienced their testicles dropping, if there was there is zero chance Barta would have been allowed to give that new contract. Seriously the boosters should have stormed Barta's office taken away every single ink pen computer and secretary and put Him in time out before Kirk had a chance to sign it.

If that's the case Kirk needs to run for Governor not be Iowa's Head Coach. I would welcome Lucifer Himself if He wins games and keeps the program off probation .

At the Div1 level, it is. My point was, and i think you get it, he has done a fantastic job of developing men as great ambassadors of the instituiton. Aside for a few bad apples here and there, the program has been scandal free.

Im not sure if ita in his DNA but plenty of people have said he would be terrific at aome sort of Front office position.

600k intern... must be nice to have daddy in charge. So we get to go to Nebraska (who just put 44 up on PSU) and get our asses handed to us by a coaching staff that is equal to or even more inept then our own. Then head off for Detroit or some other bowl game to be handed our ass again by some MAC\C-USA juggernaut.

The more we see of 50k or fewer in the stadium, the more pressure the Admin will feel to make change. If everyone is okay with looking like a teenage girl with PMS, then enjoy. The old question is "who can do better"? The answer is out there, we have to be willing to go find them.

We had more than 50K in 1999

There is a part of me that just doesn't think it will go down like that. I predict either 2018 and 2019 will be more successful.
I thought a week ago that next year looked like any easy schedule. Similar to what we had in 2015 and what Wisconsin has this year. I thought we could make another run at a 10 win season (no tOSU, Michigan or Michigan State on schedule).

Now I look at it with a different perspective......
- Iowa State....? They are always up for this game. They lose Lazard, but this game is always 50/50.
- Wisconsin.....they have their dominant OL back.
- at Minnesota.....we barely beat them this year at home.
- at Indiana.....Indiana is ranked 27th on defense, and 74 on offense. Iowa is 43rd on defense, and 117 on offense. Don't know who they return, but we lose our three dominant linebackers and Josh Jackson likely.
- Maryland....should win
- at Penn State.......likely a loss
- at Purdue........facing a coach who has his team on the rise.
- Northwestern......past history
- at Illinois.....win, but on the road.
- Nebraska.......?? New coach, new energy?

Well thanks for signing up to share that brilliant nugget with us. We needed another poster who likes to likes to speak in hyperbole.

ISU - better coaching staff, more creative than Iowa and they will be much better next year (with Kempt at QB and they recruit WR that can stretch the field).
Wiscy - is wiscy, better coaching (again more creative and willing to change - see their D for example).
Minnesota is still a year or two away from competing.
Indiana will be tough, they scheme (coaching) to their opponent.
Maryland - bad team
PSU, if Franklin stays will be another L.
Purdue will get better...
Northwestern is NW, tough and love to beat the Hawks - just ask Fitz.
Illinois, bad team but we made their QB look good...
Nebby will have a new staff so jury is out.

Let's imagine you are correct and we go 4-8 next year. I predict Kirk won't need to be forced out. I predict he would simply retire.

Either way it's a win for KF - he gets his payout and walks away with $$$. I picked the wrong profession, should have been a coach. Hell I will take half of KF's salary to stink it up.

I hope we don't go 4-8, but if we did.....

I don't think Kirk retires. Because if he did, does he get his payout? No. I think he would rather be fired and so he and BF can cash-out. Sad, but is likely the case.

Much is made of Kirk's character. He's proven to be a solid citizen... his program is clean, he gives to the community in a big way and he doesn't act like an idiot in press conferences or on the sidelines. His players also conduct themselves with class and sportsmanship.

That being said, how he ends his tenure will also say a lot about him. Will he have the grace to help with a succession plan and a strategic search for the right coach...or will he overstay his welcome. I'm not optimistic on that front as he's always....always...the last one to realize that change is needed. Combine that with ego and the end of the Ferentz era could be uncomfortable.

What do you know about football? You're gay. Talk to us about nice clothes a crap like that but stay off the football board.

Is that how it's done natural, or do I need more put-down training from you?
Someone is triggered. I recommend you take your personal issues to HROT where I'll be only too happy to abuse you.

Coach Kirk Ferentz will take the high road when he
wants to retire. He will simply announce it and then
thank the University of Iowa for giving him the chance
to be their football coach. At the age of 62, Kirk is one
year closer to ending his career.

Billy, your mother and I have something we'd like to tell you now that you've become a teenager:
Santa Claus isn't real.

Kirk's ego = in it for venal reasons, not altruistic ones.
KF is selfish and susceptible to bribes??? LMAO! We can always count on you Joel for some of the most idiotic, but entertaining, posts on here. You never disappoint.

Off the field performance? Wow, I thought we were paying him for his on-field performance.

I thought it was a pitiful sight to see how Kirk to allowed Stanley to face the press after the game, when he himself gave us his same old line of arrogant bs....blaming the athletes....when he should have admitted that his son called a shiity game. These are questions Kirk should have answered, not Stanley. A very uncomfortable situation for that young man.
I've lost respect for Kirk Ferentz. I think he's taken Iowa for huge ride.
I would fire his CEO-AD first if he didn't renew Brian's contract, then I hire a new athlete-fan friendly AD that would fire Brian so then Kirk would then have to assume the duties of the OC...... or give it back to his now crappy quarterback coach. Stop all this "giving to Kirk whatever he wants" and if he can't handle it, he can leave......and leave us some of that money he has stashed for the Ferentz Clan.

Ya, i see kirk retiring after da next 9-3 season, and handoff to brian. I cant see da university firing him, a settlment will be reached behind da scenes.

Well thats pretty sad isn't it? Even for those who are dubbed apologists, its obvious that some changes are in order, and KF's time at Iowa will come to an end sooner rather then later. And NO, I'm not sold that BF would be the best option for HC for a number of reasons. I don't however want to see Iowa hire someone who would run the program and schools good name into the gutter for the sake of a couple more wins per year. And yes there are quite a few schools and coaches who have gone that route. None of those schools have been the better for it long term.

You should do some research into the university of Miami before the original championship teams and after. It sure as heck can improve the university.

You have no idea what you're saying. Be careful with your flippant hyperbole

As a matter of fact this was a giant issue in the early years of college football. Back then you could get players to come play for you as like pay for play. There were ALOT of universities that "made it" and then alot that didn't because of athletics.

And would you also like to list all the schools who have thrown away their moral compass in the name of another win or two and where they have ended up? Whats Baylor's rep like? Or Louisville, especially in basketball, or SMU, or to some degree even N Carolina? As for Miami, how many years have they been a pile of crap, and how much did their schools reputation take a hit after the convict years?

The problem is people act like it's either Ferentz or Hitler as head coach. The Hawkeye fans are responsible for this mess. They keep worshiping someone who doesn't have much respect for them. Logic says that's not the definition of a wonderful person.

I would say for everyone except SMU the net gain has been positive. It could be said SMU is the worst case of cheating to win. WHY IS IT SO ASSUMED IN ORDER TO WIN FOOTBAL GAMES YOU HAVE TO BE THE DEVIL? Was Bob stoops a bad guy? He won alot of football games. (Your going to spin and say Oklahoma is a blue blood and good recruiting to which I will say we have not gotten the best talent available for along time) NOTHING IS GOING TO CHANGE FOR A COUPLE YEARS. But there are other and very good options available most years at coaching.

Once again, I never said that, as you should clearly be able to read. I have taken no position against a new coach at some point, and even said it would probably be best if it were not BF. I responded to the poster who said he would be OK with Satan himself as long as he won more, and didn't get caught cheating. When people say that it leads me to think they don't care what the new HC does as long as they win. I'm not in that boat, sorry.
