Same Iowa team I've seen every year with Fran

haha Patrick playing well. Please point to me a game outside of osu he’s played well. Even if skinny he plays soft. Be it on the glass or defensive end. Takes it up soft on offense and has missed how many floaters on offensive. Seriously a question I asked in another thread. Honestly what positive attribute does he bring to this team on the floor right now? He misses open jump shots and fts so not that. Hes a liability plain and simple right now.

Takes it up soft on offense? How many dunks did he have the other night? Yeah, he played great at OSU, the most recent game before today. I didn't think he played horribly in previous weeks, not compared to how badly Connor and JBo have played over that period. He played 11 minutes today whereas JBo played 33 and Connor 24. Weiskamp played 38 so it's not like Patrick took his minutes. Who was in the game when Patrick was in there who should have been instead of Patrick? If you say Joe T or Ulis, I agree. But are you saying give Connor and JBo more minutes? Murray fouled out so not sure how to give him more minutes. Are you saying Nunge should have played more? He had 25 minutes but I've read on here that he played poorly today. CJ is out so can't give him Patrick's minutes. Garza? Yeah, Fran should have played him more minutes in the final 10 minutes of the first half even with 2 fouls. So we've got Patrick's minutes should have gone to Perkins, Joe T, Ulis, and/or Garza. Yes, I agree with that.

take it up soft hell yes. he’s so weak on both ends there is no question about it. How many floaters has he attempted and missed inside of 10 ft let alone 5 this year that he’s bricked. Way too many. Please tell me looking at his game logs which games hes Played well in. It’s joke he plays so much more off the bench than a guy like Toussaint who won’t be surprising if and when he transfers next year. If his last name Isn’t mccaffery no way he sees the
Minutes he’s seeing. 9th best player at best on our roster right now.

Something about this university attracts these kinds of coaches like flies to neon lights.
It's the lifetime contracts for moderate success. Easy to be stubborn when you know .500 in the conference makes you untouchable. He's sounding a little like Kirk during his "that's football/what the common fan doesn't understand" era about 6 years ago. Only more pissy

well I can’t see that Fran has accomplished anything close to KF so that’s problem #1 for Fran. Problem #2 is KF is pure class with very few moments of showing his ass, and Fran’s usually an ass with very few moments of class.

my words, not trying to speak for anybody else here.

It's not always the stats. I just see how his length, when combined with Murray's length, really messed up other teams' offensive flow. So he adds presence on the defensive end. He'll come around offensively, but it might not be this year. Should Joe T or Ulis be getting more minutes? Yes. I don't understand why you're arguing at this point. Yes, ninth best player on the team, but still pretty decent at contributing ten minutes a game for guys to get a breather. What game was he responsible for losing?

Agree entirely.

Fran has an old school mentality which in some ways I admire, but it's working against him. He has the mindset that he is going to recruit a class and that class will progress and eventually be "his guys". They have paid their dues and now it's their team. Admirable if you have the right pieces in place, but foolish if you aren't willing to recruit over guys or play an underclassmen who is capable of helping the team more than a veteran. It's pretty clear that if Ulis or Perkins went off for 20 every scrimmage in the off season, Fran would still start "his guys".

I admire loyalty, but Fran way takes it too far IMO. If Jbo or Connor need to come off the bench because someone behind them is playing better, then that is the decision Fran needs to make as a coach. KF has gotten much better with this over the past few years with the RB's and WR's. Parker isn't afraid to yank a guy and put an underclassmen in if he thinks that guy can perform better in that situation. In Jbo's case specifically, I think he would be more effective on offense playing fewer minutes and not being the primary ballhandler. Fresher legs, more focused on hunting shots with someone to drive and kick to him for clean looks.

With Fran it's almost like he doesn't want to give younger players a chance to show up "his guys". These aren't the cringeworthy ( in some cases) reserves Fran has had in the past. Ulis, Perkins, Murray and Joe T. can ball but Fran is too consumed with seniority.

This is exactly how I see Fran,.. and in tight games, rather than injecting himself as a coach, he tends to allow his veteran rotation to control their own destiny...

Fran too arrogant to change. Connor was getting so much attention for being the “glue guy” and an essential piece of this team early in the season. Now....not so much
