I am a little suprised to hear that some Iowa fans don't know how good he is. They must not pay much attention to defense. I think he's got a very good shot at the Butkus Award. I'm sure opposing coaching staffs know how good he is.
What's a list of comparable college RBs in say the last 20-30 years? I can't think of any that I would say are better than Barkley. He literally does everything at an elite level. Vision, strength, power, acceleration, blocking, hands, etc.
I am still in awe of his performance. The play where he completely hurdled Jackson AND absorbed the hit by Hooker AND kept going was unbelievable.
Well considering Barkley demolished Iowa last year, I doubt any serious Iowa fan doesn't know he is a stud. I think he reminds me of that Eliott RB out of OSU that is kicking butt in NFL. Combination of speed, power, balance makes an elite RB. Wadley is elite in space, but he doesn't have the power to break tackles.
I still put Barry Sanders above him but that is about it as far as RBs (on the college level). Be interesting to see how his skill set translates to the NFL. He is very versatile so I think he'll be one of the best ever in the NFL too if he stays healthy.Been watching football a long time, best skill set I have ever seen.
I can honestly say he might be the best player I have ever seen as well or at least that performance was the best I have seen in person. I was at Rose Bowl and there last night, much more impressive than C Mcaf and that was pretty damn impressive. He hurdled a dude, got hit while in the air, landed and never broke stride....i mean WTF!
‘04 Lawrence Maroney & Marion Barber III ran wild against us, Jeremy Hill, Le’Veon Bell, and Chase Brown were also unstoppable.Over the past few decades, Iowa has generally tackled very well (MSU game a few weeks ago aside). There's a short list of guys that Iowa has had a difficult time getting on the ground, and they all had or are having great careers in the NFL. My list would include Carlos Hyde, Melvin Gordon, Jonathan Taylor, Christian McCaffrey, Saquon Barkley, and maybe one or two others.
I was at that game. Greenway shooting under the block for a TFL backed them up just enough to miss the FG.‘04 Lawrence Maroney & Marion Barber III ran wild against us, Jeremy Hill, Le’Veon Bell, and Chase Brown were also unstoppable.
Saw that on the highlights. One of the craziest runs I've ever seen. He's a freak.....
