There aren't any really outstanding teams this year. ISU is 3-2 against the teams currently rated in the top 5; both losses were on the road, one in the final 6 seconds and the other (today) ISU led much of the way and was leading with a little over 3 minutes to play.ISU is most assuredly a Top 10 team. They beat #1 and #4 in the last week. What do you want out of a team? Oh and they beat Iowa who is a Top 5 team.
What's happening is that top five, or even top ten, doesn't mean what it has usually meant in the past. Teams are getting into that rarified territory by default because everybody is losing.
